https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/sport/gaa/philly-mcmahons-message-for-dublins-rivals-stop-complaining-about-us-and-start-competing-908744.html

Critics point out that Dublin GAA receives by far the highest coaching funding from Croke Park despite having their own commercial department and being in a position to strike lucrative sponsorship deals no other county can.

"I didn't see all this money, I didn't get any money," said McMahon. "What money did I get from that, from the figures that have been going around? I got Paddy Christie coming to my school, taking me out of class, and telling me to come up and train in Poppintree Park. That's what I got!

********
Not even the Dublin players understand the imbalance in funding compared to other counties

The point is that the games development funding didn't go anywhere near the likes of Philly and his ilk. It was volunteer members who gave him all his coaching.
What magic fairy provided the funding for all the paid coaches in the schools and clubs, who also take coaching sessions with development squads
Games development coaches do not take Dublin development squads! Outright lie, again.

Dublin development squads are taken by unpaid ex-Dubs players mostly, e.g. when my lad was involved a couple of years ago (for a very short time!) Stephen O'Shaughnessy, Declan Lally, David Henry were among the coaches. Ciaran Whelan and Paddy Christie used to be involved. And many more.

Outside GDO's taking 4-8 year olds who aren't on teams, if you wanna get paid for coaching in Dublin, become manager of a Senior Division 1 or 2 team (preferably not your own club). Same shite that goes on in many/most counties.

Too much truth. They wont be able to handle it.

Why are every club in the 31 Counties continuously fundraising?
Because they get sweet FA from HQ.

True in some cases, but not in all.

A lot of GAA club grants come from the sports grant, my own benefited from this recently thankfully, its also heavily politically motivated too.
What is your club?

Ah now couldn't been telling you all that, but we are the Dublin of Dublin  ;)

Vinnies so

@ Baile BrigĂn 2 , you are wasting your breath on these Mayo lads, sure they don't even enjoy GAA anymore according to them, although they will all be looking for tickets if they get to the final.

Back to the thread, the Great Kerry team, in some of their wins, played one decent match in Munster, 2 in Croke park, 210 minutes of football to win one, now that's soft.

At least all the teams that come up to play the Dubs in Croker up their game.

Btw for the usual grunters I never said I was in favour but I have obviously have a more open mind the myopic Dublin supporters....must be all the fake All-Irelands that make them so angry...they know...
Yeah, it's just Dublin supporters against this ridiculous idea...

Although I see your distancing yourself from it now! Maybe, you've decided to think it through.

Grunter!! Getting a tad grumpy in oul age Dinny

Ridiculous idea! hardly considering it's been doing the rounds for years. Now giving Dublin millions and not splitting them up, doesn't get more ridiculous than that in fairness, oh wait letting Dublin use Croke for league matches since 2011.......The GAA is full of ridiculous ideas but one to actually improve the game as a spectacle certainly isn't...

Another Dublin thread  :D

For me I agree, take them out of Croke park, as a supporter I have no problem travelling anywhere for a game and if I cant make I cant make so be it.

However, they went 36 games unbeaten in league and championship not so long ago. Not sure how many away games that was but it didn't really matter.
they didn't play one championship game outside Croke Park for 10 years

I know, and agree to take them out of Croker Park for more championship matches. If you exclude the first round Leinster games, Id say it longer than 10 years. Only seems to matter recently though.!

Also the club should come first, Inter county is a part of a wider GAA, don't give up just because of the politics in Mayo football.

Quote[Were you at the Dublin Mayo game on the weekend?

Yes that's what I was referring to.

Gave up going to watch Mayo last year. Just before the Connacht Final. The disgust and conflict were taking away the enjoyment. There were just to many things wrong that it was hard to ignore them anymore.  It hard when you love something but you know in your heart and sole that there is a Financial doped monster like Dublin and you are only contributing to making it bigger. It was not an easy decision, I lived GAA. Anyway I look from a distance anymore. Friends who are still on the (false) bandwagon don't want to hear reality. The silence says it all when you put your views to them. They still live in their romantic view of the GAA. A GAA of the people. Hah!

I don't feel sorry for myself. I've had great days out with Mayo. What worries me is I have 3 kids 11,10 and 7 and I won't be bringing them to games. They are not going to get the bug! Not from me anyway. How could you introduce them to this? They play and love the game for the club and i will encourage that.

Is that because the players can pick the team and influence managerial selections for finals?

A disgrace they are. Some of those players should be put of the panel.

I am sure the Mayo men would love a win here. 13 attempts an no wins, a poor return.

No matter the result, its arse boxing, only thing that matters is the super 8s onwards.

Hopefully an entertaining attacking game, which it usually is.

Maybe for Dublin and Kerry. The provincial championships mean a lot to other counties.

That's what I meant, from a Dublin fan perspective anyway, the league is more important, enjoyable and competitive than Leinster.

If Mayo win, it only benefits Dublin later in the year, more sting in the tail.

Dont shoot me down but I have been wondering why Dublin haven't re-developed Parnell park for a bigger capacity or built a new ground?

Does anyone know how many people need to attend croke park in order for it to make a profit. I heard years ago a figure of around 40,000 but not sure if this is true.

I would imagine there is alot of cost involved in opening it up for games where only 30,000 or so attend.

Don't worry we wont shoot you.. yet

I believe the problem with Parnell Park is logistical and a planning issue. One side you have DCC owned Golf course, the other side is Craobh Ciaran and Ciarans school, extremely tight to the side of Parnell park.

Development could only take place from one side, to my knowledge, if DCC and Clontarf gold club agreed to allocated a small piece of land to Dublin to build a 2 tier stand. This probably wont happen.

I heard 40K also, but I don't think that's true, sure the top tiers are not opened, no cost, there is limited staff on and volunteers etc, but worth a fact check.
