This nonsense about defenders in Spain not being of the same quality as the EPL is the sort of crap we hear from Gary Neville and Co. In Spain all players can play with the ball even central defenders. The quality of the EPL has been clearly seen in the fact that none of their teams could get into the last 8 of the CL.

I can't for the life of me understand the constant need on here to belittle the Premier League. There is no doubt that currently the top of the Premier League lags behind the top 3/4 teams in Europe but these things are cyclical and I'm sure that it won't be long before they are challenging again.. Look at the last 10 European Cup Finals, the Premier League provided 8 finalists in 7 different years with 3 winners. No other country has more than 5 (Spain).

While the Premier League may lag behind at the top end I'd happily wager that the Premier League is an overall better standard than the Spanish League and will produce more even games. This is the appeal of the Premier League, even if your playing relegation fodder you can't be sure your team will win. The reason Messi/Ronaldo et al score 50 goals per season, every season is because the lower teams know their place and low over and have their bellies tickled. Give me Leicester putting it up to Chelsea (and beating United) any day.

Benteke is an interesting one, there are times when he looks virtually unplayable but there is also a suspicion that he gets into a comfort zone every now and then and lets games pass him by, but a record of 1 goal every 2 games for a team that doesn't really score goals is pretty damn good.

Why not boycott a home game? Liverpool have their own category system and charge their own fans as well as away fans extra to watch some teams? Now that would create a debate.

it makes you wonder what goes on in people's heads that they out that video up like it was something to be proud of. Reading the comments below the video it seems this was a watered down version of a longer more abusive tirade  :-\

Jaysus 8 years since this thread was live, does nobody follow the old snooker anymore?? While it'll never get back to the 1980s interest levels I always regard the World Championships as compulsory viewing..

Current champion Selby gone already, Ronnie obviously will feature if he can be arsed... but I think Ding is playing well enough to win it out.

Been a while since we were linked to a midfielder, hoping we go after Pogba this summer although I expect him to end up in Madrid. Strootman won't happen due to his injuries and Gundogan is nowhere near the player he was a few years ago. Expect United to spend another £130m this summer as long as clubs continue to allow united to pay in staged payments, United already owe about £100 in transfers.

Hope your wrong about Gundogan Maroon, Twatter is awash with him being a done deal. It's even made SSN ticker by all accounts  ;D

Can I just say what a sanctimonious twat Henry came across as last night, actually not just last night he does it all the time..

Can't believe I just read that!  ;D  ;D

On twitter most people where slagging off Ronaldo for running off celebrating on his own after the goal, ignoring the rest of the team.

Ronaldo a serious player but I can't warm to him. He'd some great touches last night at one spell and then he done two things:

Took a shot off balance and put it harmlessly wide. Spent the next minute huddling about, holding his knee etc etc giving it the "I missed cause I hurt myself".
Minutes later a high ball comes in and he tries to control/hit it but it goes wayward and wide. He then starts pointing to his eyes and the lights to excuse himself again, it was the lights fault.

Just get on with it FFS, we all know you are brilliant and will allow you the odd balls up. Rant over.

You do know it was Henry I was giving out about not Ronaldo ;-).

Ronaldo does have a flaw in that he quite likes himself, I'd say he's got quite a few mirrors in his house. But both of us know that if in the morning we woke to find Ronaldo was signing for ones of our clubs we'd be quite pleased.

Back to my original point ffs Thierry the lads just scored a last minute winner in a huge game against their local rivals I thought his reaction was quite restrained

Very important goal scored by Javier Hernández tonight.

Delighted for the Little Pea, always had a great attitude.. Twitter informs me that his last United outing ended in being taken off in a 4-0 loss at MK Dons. Some road from that to a winning QF goal in the Bernebau

Now if there is an Irish supporter of FCUM out there, it'll take the biscuit.
"Who do you follow in the LOI?"
..."nah, wouldn't watch it...shite...., support FCUM though"
::)

As if

Christ..1,685! Clems

What's the bother with Irish guys following FC and why does it follow that they automatically think the LOI is shite??

At one point was there not a lot of hassle between FCUM and United, thought I read a piece somewhere about trouble flaring up between the two, largely from United fans who don't like what happened? Could be wrong.

I see also that Salford FC got promoted last night. What will Manchester do with all these teams.

I reckon Salford is in business to put FCUM out of business long term.

There was some small  mither very early on when different fans groups were trying to figure out how best to fight the glazers some felt that FC were taking away an important hardcore of support from the fight but I don't think it ever amounted to much. Like Maroon said there are many reasons people gave up going.

It was a serious question. I know a lot of the FC United's fans are still Man United fans, predominantly from Manchester, who are (or were) disenchanted with the Glazers. They obviously still go to the United games, many with the Kerry scarves, so I was just wondering would they support FC United in a game against Man United.

Id say most that go to FC don't go to Old Trafford at all anymore or infrequently at best AZ. To answer your question I think some would, some wouldn't :-). At the difference in levels currently in place most would be happy with a good showing and continue following both. It'll be interesting to see if they reach league level whether any animosity surfaces..

Interesting. I thought most supported both. So they've more or less thrown in with FCU?

I would think most still support Man Utd but don't go anymore for a variety of reasons. Obviously a lot are boycotters but there are plenty who have been priced out of/are fed up with modern day football, want to go with their mates and have a beer and a laugh, take their kids etc

For all the initial scepticism about the Glazers, nobody can argue that they haven't put their money where their mouths are. They pumped more into wages last season than any other club in England and given the amount they have spent since Fergie left, the protests about a lack of spend were slightly misguided. I think it was more a case of Fergie being prudent with the clubs money than no money being available around the time of the initial protests. No doubt their main objective is to make money out of the club but in fairness they have invested heavily in the last couple of seasons.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/revealed-manchester-united-wage-bill-is-10-times-more-than-burnley-and-higher-than-manchester-city-and-chelsea-10193532.html

They have not invested one penny and havevraped the club to the tune of heading for 1 Billion Euro at this stage. Fact! as a famous man once said.

you think I am yellowcard? :)

I was attempting to do two things at once and failing completely :-)
