The BBC are currently running a poll on the best overseas player to play in the Premier League the thing that stands out of the piece is that there were 13 foreigners in that 1st year there are now over 300...

Perhaps when the dust settles on this tragic event, we can have a serious conversation about the drinking culture in Ireland, not only among young people, but in general.  The utter dependency on alcohol is frightening -even check out the t-shirts on those hen night girls and you can see that virtually all our down time with friends is spent in the company of alcohol and we have a crazy obsession with it.  400 people in a car park is not a risk and should never be a risk, but young people getting off buses, tanked up, drunk and possibly many having taken cocaine and suddenly the vulnerability of those at the front and those who are smaller and lighter can be understood.  We also need to realise that parents allowing their children to have fake ID is not good parenting.  This was an 18+ disco.  If so, why was there a crowd of 400 children of 16 and under in that car park?  Why did parents let them out?  Did parents know they were drinking?  Are parents so stupid as to turn a blind eye to their children drinking at that age?  The thing that drives me mad is the old story - 'sure we all did it when we were their age'.,  This is why there needs to be a serious culture change in this country, starting with a bit of soul searching as to how we interpret St. Patrick's Day. Around six dead at the last count. Arresting the hotel owner is just typical of an attitude that will seek to punish a man for putting on an event, checking ID and assuming they were all over 18, therefore selling alcohol, while the parents, the bus drivers, the off licence owners and the teenagers themselves will go scot free.

The absolute cut of this post. Please seek help from a trained professional. You are not well in the head.

Other than the unsubstantiated cocaine claim, I don't see much wrong with that post.

Yeah I'm in agreement

Watched Stan & Ollie last night and really enjoyed it. Serious performances from Steve Coogan and John C Reilly as the pair after a while you forget they're not really Laurel and Hardy..

Radicalized ffs  ;D

McIlroys a strange one in that he seems to identify himself as Northern Irish rather than the 'more traditional' view of them'uns and us'uns that the rest of us have ie British and Irish... In some ways it a quite refreshing outlook divorced from our past I have to say I don't give a shiny shite what he identifies as. I've been following his career since he was 14/15 and he's provided sublime entertainment to me and many millions more, all this from a wee lad from an hour up the road from me I can't but like him.

Personally I think most of the dislike is just good old fashioned begrudgery, we don't mind a fella being good but we don't like a fella to be that good. He needs to be slapped down a wee bit..

Has it been confirmed that it was an 18+ event? I thought I saw on here and other places earlier that it was but was shot down immediately when it came up in discussion a while ago at my local

Great show tonight, Rod Stewart singing Grace and emotional re 1916 and even name checking internment , so poignant given the Bloody Sunday fiasco this week.
Though revisionists and apologists try to underestimate the historical significance of 1916 and the anglo-Irish war, this was an extremely proud moment in our history as a nation , itís ironic that it was  emotionally recognised even by a knighted cockney tonight, fair play Rod.
The parents of the 1916 generation survived the famine, and at that time there was an environment which quite frankly had enough of imperialist bullying. They stood up to an empire and history showed that the British , as always in these circumstances, didnít play by the rules . That same ( weíve had enough) mentality engendered the civil rights movement of 50 years ago, and we see now 50 years later that the British still are not playing by the rules, theyíve ignored the GFA, theyíre still manipulating and dodging a bullet in Bloody Sunday . Irish history has shown that things happen in cycles Iíve no doubt that Ireland will once again say enough is enough ! Time for the end game , united ireland and finally wave goodbye to Britainís ignominious involvemrment in this country .
What's the plan then for the 1 million or so British people in Ulster?
There'll be no change for those who live in the Cavan/Dpnegal/Monaghan part of it anyway.
The 800k in the other 6 Cos. - check the GFA. The entitlement to British, Irish or both citizenships/ pasdports/nationalities remains.
Mind you if the Scots go Independent first....???

We have British people living in Monaghan  :o

Tremendously disappointing to see any horse coming to grief like that but especially one with potential like that. Racing is a cruel game.

Anyone want a 150/1 tip  ;D

Gavin Cromwell has a horse in the 2.10 today Brex Drago (topical name) his only other runner of the week won the Champion Hurdle, I spotted it this morning and went into Boylesports to put a few quid on hoping it'd run into a place. I was expecting 50/1 or so but got on at 150/1.

Another tough draw, City again with a good draw. Don't think I've ever seen a team get as many easier draws as City have had this year.

I've seen very little of Barca this year although led to believe their not at the level as previous teams.

They definitely not of the vintage of 4/5 years ago but formidable none the less..
