“We’ll end the war a year sooner now, and think of the kids who won’t be killed!”

That sentence stuck out for me. Think of the numbers that won’t be killed. But 135,000 Japanese lives? They obviously didn’t matter!

Those bombs were the most evil, barbaric act in history. Absolutely disgusting.

Were they more evil or barbaric than the fire bombing of Tokyo or Dresden?

Were they more evil or barbaric than the actions of the Einsatzgruppen at Babi Yar or numerous other eastern European locations, forcing people to line up, packed into their pit graves before being shot; mothers to hold their children up to be shot first; and teenage girls to strip naked and run the gauntlet on their way to the pit for execution?

Were they more evil or barbaric than the industrialized murder of millions of Jew, Roma and other "undesirables" in the NAZI extermination camps?

Good man J70 that's more or less word for word what I wanted to say. It's long been up for debate about the need/desire to drop those bombs and I don't think one more article after 75 years will answer the question any more definitively

Other than Liverpool fans I'd say most people thought last season ended very tamely. I don't see much appetite for football with no fans to be honest or any sport for that matter.

Recent happening in Ireland/UK re not increasing crowd numbers and cancelling test events makes me think 'normality' whatever that may be is a long way aways

The thin skin of some of you shinners is unreal......

There's a lot of people too tangled in it....

Scott Parker won it one year ffs, David Ginola got it the year United won the treble... A trinket that's not worth debating too much.

Paddy Power paid him out on it and he in turn gave it to charity I think. Well done all round.

Ole is managing United, Lampard and even Arteta who is getting smoke blown up his arse recently are managing Chelsea/Arsenal respectively the expectations/hype is different. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Opinions wanted

I umpire for a friend of mine, since football returned we've had a couple of local gigs with only himself and two of us travelling in same car. Today was senior championship and we always go as a team of five usually in same car for the banter more than anything.

He said he'd call at usual time and when I suggest I'd drive and take one of other lads he couldn't see need? I reasoned that if it was decided that only 200 could be at matches and dressing rooms were out of bounds us piling into a car and heading over the road seemed to defeat purpose a bit?

Game against Leicester is kinda like a winner takes all cup final (albeit United don’t necessarily have to win!). I would say B Rodg will set Leicester up to attack the space behind Maguire with Vardys pace and they can be very dangerous if they get the momentum going. If United score first they win, simple as that. If Leicester score first, I question the mentality of some of the United players and reckon Leicester will score 2-3.

Harsh on United re mentality, since they got on the decent run at start of Feb, 15 odd games ago, they've conceded 1st 6 times and only lost one, the cup semi last week.

Ur talking about rest in two different contexts, games like West Ham at home are games you would expect to be able to get away with a change or two. Likewise if you were 2 or 3 up with 20/25 mins to go you would pull a couple but at 1-1 and the game in the air not so much!!

Would they have scored I don't know really, but they were a threat the whole game particularly at set pieces and at no time of the game would you have said United were any more likely to score the next goal than West Ham

I don't understand the notion that Leicester would be more up for the game?? Why??

Faded badly? They the form team since Feb, table toppers since Covid break I think (wonder if there's a trophy for that  :)). They out on their feet at this stage cause they basically played same 11 since the return.

I'm just wondering whether the peculiarities of this season are gonna affect United more than most next season...

Liverpool won the European Cup last year and Premier League this year. They are the best team in the world at the moment. Only job that he could go on to from here and be considered a step up is Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Why would he leave? He clearly loves Liverpool and he has built an amazing team that isn't going anywhere soon

Maybe he's a Guardiola, absolutely obsessive and manic til he burns out. Takes time off, resets and goes again somewhere else? Certainly looks that kind of character to me from a distance. The day of the Fergus/Wenger empire like managements are probably a thing of the the past?
