A small boy and his father are out on a lake in a small boat. The wee boy turns to his father and says, 'Daddy, if mummy was here, then there'd be four of us.'
Explain...

Ntb vs Skea on Sun could be nasty too! Oh and just see St Joes playing A'see on Sun, theres a bit of history there as well...

Agree with the last few; I think now theres more of an attitude that when you come to training/play a match, its up to you to be fit to do that to the best of your ability. Its you whos gonna look like an idiot otherwise. players too are wising up a bit, knowing that if they get locked tonight they're gonna be below par for a few days, and that could well see them off the team.

Goal should deffo count. You shouldn't go on msg boards saying you lost control of the ball however, rahter you should claim it as a deliberate tactic to beat the keeper  ;)

If thats true Tacadoir, it seems like a ridiculous trhing to clamp down on. Its not as though it gives anyone an unfair advantage. Frankly, no player is gonna be bouncing it basketball style unless it isn't under control, so its blatant when it is/is not under control.

We had an interesting one last year when a defender caught the ball in the small square and was tackled. The fair tackle knocked the ball from his hand clean into the net. Should the goal have stood?

As long as the tackler wasn't in the square when the ball came in, yep. Bet what happened tho was the ref bottled it and gave a free out. thats what he did to me once when I followed a shot in and punched it out of the keepers hands, into the net.

That's illegal, because the player is deemed 'in possession' when he is bouncing the ball.

Dont think it matters whether deemed in possession or not in this case, its the same to bounce it and hit it with your fist before catching it, as if you were to kick it up a la solo, but fist it on instead of catching it. Both should be ok.

Another area where there seems to be confusion (or at least it confused that idiot ref on sun at fer-mon game) is that if the ball is not deemed to be under control it can be hopped as many times as you want. On sun the ref blew someone for hopping the ball twice even though they were clearly bouncing it to get it under control.

The hound; he couldnt fist it when on the ground in the normal fashion - it refers to striking it with the fist along the ground, i.e rolling it away

Jaysus Main Street, you're reallly struggling with that result   ;)

If a player falls and still has the ball in possession when he hits the ground, then he can touch it on the ground, to strike it away. This seems just like clarification in a scoring position, which admittedly isn't too likely. I presume its to avoid having to harshly give a free against a player who falls with the ball in his hands, for touching it on the ground.

We'll draw a line under it ok? Read that post, it was an over obvious attempt to provoke a reaction in a light-hearted way.
I'd forgotten about it, thanks for quoting, I feel an enormous sense of satisfaction reading it,for it was vindicated by the game!

And I'll be honest, I was arrogant going into the game, but sure, I was right.  :P

Ok, ok, it is a message board, and is exactly the forum to post opinion, but no msg is in isolation. If noone got slated for past comments, or getting a game utterly wrong, there wouldnt be any craic. Friends? Love your neighbour and all that..... ;)
Here, you can even have the last word!!! ;D
