People blocking emergency department in Los Angeles to prevent police getting urgent medical treatment after they were shot in their patrol car. Disgusting.

And its just gotten more 'interesting' - have a look at this

You wouldn't think the cops could manage to be the bad guys of that script, but yep, they managed it. although i suppose the script as you had it was largely invented.

You need to work on your comprehension. That doesn't appear to be what happened going by the link you've posted and further reading it inspired. Commonsense would also suggest protesters would be doing well to beat the ambulance to the hospital, especially because presumably they'd have had to wait to hear about the shooting. And what hospital they were in. Obviously not agreeing with the protest at a hospital, but it doesn't appear to have had the purpose you say.

Usual outrage - its been brought into line with civil service looks like which I'm sure there is an argument for. Unless the civil service terms are too generous which I'd agree with, certainly when it comes to sick leave which is abused high and wide.

I will say though that I'd never put weight in anything that Alan McQuillan says. He is an absolute fuckwit - a horrible person. Its also rich him talking about the public purse when he has businesses which absolutely screw it.

Is it not just picking your friends/family/relative into a job they may not be in anyway qualified for or be in a function to carry out and get paid a handsome (more handsome) salary to do so?

That is wrong.

Not sure how it is dealt with, but agree there should be accountability and justification round the recruitment and employment. I don't think its beyond the realms of possibility at all that in some cases it is family members who are best for the job though.

I agree also that politicians salaries should be such that they attract people who are suitably qualified/experienced. Things are a bit skewed in the north and in general i think the quality of politician is poor, but I don't see how cutting salaries or giving them shit about it etc is going to improve that. I guess we need to think about the type of people we'd like to see in charge of govt departments. For some on here its seems to be those who are independently wealthy and so have no need of the salary a demanding role would justify. I'm sure there'd be no problems there  ::)

If that isn't to be the case, then we need to think about how we attract people who will make good ministers, and what sort of salaries would attract those people.

What if the post mortem revealed that he died of drowning and his time of death was dated the Sunday he went missing?

So if there was a cover up would the pathologist be involved also?

Maybe there is a level of incompetence going on and people, family included, think that they deserve better?

All Iím saying is i donít know what happened but I refuse to jump on the Social bandwagon, if a report shows that the cops were hiding something or helped in covering up something then yes they should be pulled.

You can only really go on witnesses reports, they have constantly been on radio this week been asking for dashcam coverage or other footage that the public may have,!

Iím sure 100% they have checked all business cameras in the area also. Christ they even checked cameras for a stolen wheelie bin of ours in Waring street!

This is a tragic case of either misadventure or suicide, I hope to god it isnt a murder case.

I wouldnít be one for jumping on the social bandwagon either. The police arenít looking good in this.
What have the police done wrong?

Coming up with hare-brained theory and then releasing their own 'facts' to suit - head injury so stripped off (ludicrous stuff), said he was cycling naked, but not showing any evidence of this (family had requested), telling family leaflet drop done when not, not saying he had a good reason to be heading toward cavehill, i.e. it was initially thought of by general public as more likely to be suicide than missing person which definitely affected public response, or that he was off his head with the cycling naked stuff - there is a at best a staggering level of dangerous incompetence here. There's far more operational stuff too - like having to be prompted to ask for the items they said were still missing, the length of time it took for them to organise any kind of response - not to mention the seeming ambivalence toward it now. It stinks to high heaven - and even if they havent done anything wrong, there needs to be a full investigation into this to restore any confidence in them.

Has anyone heard the recording of yer man whose mate works at Europcar? HSE / Gardai / defense forces have had a meeting. It's all under wraps for now to prevent panic-buying. They've been buying vehicles instead of leasing them because they reckon this is going to last more than three months. Come Tuesday morning there's to be an address to the nation initiating a 2-week lockdown.

Yer man: "What exactly does lockdown mean?"
Defense forces fella: "It means you don't f**ing leave your house."

Army will be on the streets to deter looting and curfew-breaking.

Yes, that's the recording I got. Seemed very elaborate to be bullshit but who knows.

Def bullshit

I Hear there is men in building sites doing coke on weekdays up and down the country.

The absolute state of this. Away and have a word with yourself.

I genuinely don't understand this.  Are you saying it isn't true?  Or that it shouldn't be said? Or what?  Plenty of people in construction, as in many walks of life, use coke.

He saying that the building trade up and down the country is basically coked up, everyday, on site. It is, of course, complete lies.

I know a few ones that take coke on sites. A minority though there is some. He didn't say the whole building trade was coked up did he?

It's complete fabrication. Nothing based in facts or reality. And you're defending it.

Its quite a feat to be wrong so consistently. An even greater feat never to let it affect you

Mick Fealty hates SF so much that anything he writes about them should be discounted. His recent article and subsequent interview on Nolan this morning were car crash stuff. Even Nolan telling him he was talking crap about SF getting an easy ride. He was just completely out of his depth. A clown

Shocking stuff in this show.

4 things.

This was not about protection money.  Our resident peddlers of that myth can shut up anytime.  The attackers repeatedly asked him to resign his position and (I canít really believe what Iím about to type...) carved the letters QIH into his chest with a stanley knife.

Itís unlikely that SQ will ever make any inroads into the business again... and rightly so.

If he did, I wouldnít buy as much as a brick from that company. (Not that heíd care much Iím sure, but fcuk him)

There are those in the local community who know the score here but are keeping their mouths shut.

No-one would. This attack has completely screwed up any chance of Quinn getting back, and also tainted his legacy amongst many who would have supported him. This was an obvious outcome, even for these knuckleheads, so it is really hard to see the precise motivation. Perhaps it is just as simple as revenge, but it surely couldn't have been aimed at reinstating Quinn, for any action like this instantly made that impossible.

Course they have, in an attempt to draw a false equivalence. Such a bigoted rag

I dont think its a false equivalence. You support McLean dropping his head, you cant criticise Mannus standing respectfully.

But the Telegraph seems to be contriving a story where none exists. The south seems to he far more mature, as if thats news.

Its the Belfast Telegraph - it isn't reporting a story, its trying to create one. Its aimed at trying to get a reaction from northern nationalists.

Also, Alan Mannus deserves no criticism - he is entitled to do whatever he wants (within reason), as is anyone in a similar situation, more power to them. However, drawing parallells with James McClean (which is the point of the story) is a false equivalence, and will be until the Irish army act in Larne similarly to how the British army acted in Derry.

The 11+ was a shocker by Sinn Fein. The ultimate outcome seems to have been more exams, and more diverse exams, thereby creating a natural advantage for wealthier families who can afford to pay for additional tuition.

The reasoning was sound, and was to cut out the very advantage you've suggested, amongst other things. That it has been circumvented doesn't change the fact that SF tried to do what I think was the right thing in the first place - albeit I don't know the in's and out's of the circumvention, if action can be taken there, or if it should have been foreseen and dealt with pre-emptively (which seems likely).
