Ulster struggling badly all over the place. Pienaar a huge loss they're a shadow of what they were last year.

Can't believe England won't make an exemption for Armitage as well. He is a serious operator and I think they'd canter the 6N with him in the team and ruffle the Southern Hemisphere with his breakdown work @ the WC... Actually thank God they won't!!
Pienaar's a huge loss, but also missing through injury were Trimble, Henderson, Tuohy and Marshall, with O'Connor suspended. Ulster simply don't have the strength in depth to deal with that kind of injury / suspension list. And if that wasn't enough, there's the ongoing fiasco of Payne being played at 13 with Cave being left on the bench. Lots of arguments about whether or not that's at the request of Joe Schmidt, but whatever the reason, it's killing Ulster's season.

Doubt if a referendum to stay in the EU would get a yes vote in the North,as unionists are in favour of withdrawal generally (UK withdrawal) ,as are Sinn Fein incidentally, and UKIP have one MLA a few councillors and are getting a trickle of defectors from unionist parties.

Unfortunately economic arguments will carry no weight with unionists,as a commentator said recently if Dublin was Dubai Unionists would still oppose a United Ireland on ideological grounds
Agree. Wouldn't matter if economic studies proved that northerners would be financially better off in an all Ireland arrangement to the tune of £500 per week. Unionists / loyalists would still vote against on the grounds they wouldn't get to fly their fleg, play their anthem, follow OWC while singing '10 German Bombers...' etc

I'm all for 2nd or even 3rd generation Irish footballers playing for Ireland if they feel a genuine connection to the team and country. However, if someone is sitting around waiting to see if they get a call up for England, they should be told to feck off.

I see the apprentice boys are getting 4 million for a museum in Derry.
should have stopped this until long kesh got the green light.

Disagree. Things are very positive in Derry - they seem to have cracked the whole parading problem up there. It would be foolish to throw that in the air for the sake of a bit of whataboutery.

That might be the case but it seems like when the orangemen are in the minority in an area they don't make as much of a fuss since they are getting their way.

If one side is willing to accommodate their history shouldnt they in turn support the other? This is part of history they are unwilling to preserve, just happens that they don't like it.
When nationalists / republicans are in a majority, compromise is possible, because unionists realise they have no choice but to cut a deal. In such circumstances, the outcome is usually quite favourable to unionists, probably much to their surprise. They are convinced that nationalists are engaged in cultural warfare, that they are determined to purge the land of every vestige of loyalist culture. They haven't grasped that it's not the culture itself that nationalists object to, but the notion of supremacy that goes with it, the idea that they're entitled to march where they want, when they want, and on their own terms. Once that particular bubble is burst, and proper respect is given to the rest of the community, nationalists are quite content for parades to go ahead.

Some of them seem to think they have already qualified. They are certainly in pole position in the Group of Dearth.

Might not be there too long, so making hay and all that
Well done the north. Not only did we beat Greece quite convincingly, but we also contributed 3 players and a manager to help our fellow countrymen get a decent result against the world champions!  :D

Always knew you believed in  32 county Ireland
Perhaps you knew because I've been saying it on this board for about 6 years?  ;)

So I would like to just ask them this, I would like to ask them, as an old-fashioned socialist who would dearly love to see a genuine 32-county Irish socialist Republic: which of the dead was it okay to kill and who will it be okay to kill in the times to come so we can sit around the cosy fires of the future and tell our children how the beautiful Republic came into being?

That's what the Politicians should be focussing on rather than that guff at Twaddell.

£40k a day to Gallaghers would soon keep all those people employed!

PS. Sinn Fein's stance on the Welfare Reform is disgraceful also. They need to get into the real world and realise that the Country's fucked and it's going to be hard for a while longer!!
Yeah, but why start at the bottom of the pile? Why not start making cuts / imposing taxes at the upper end of the wage spectrum or on the corporations that rob countries of billions by avoiding paying taxes?

Worst speech I ever heard was from a groom who kept bubbling up and bursting into tears. Even his family were getting fed up with it after a while. Could've understood it if there'd been a recent bereavement in the family, but that wasn't the case. I think the occasion just got to him, but it was certainly embarrassing for everyone.

Surely the bible makes it very clear."The Angel of The Lord declared on Mary and she conceived by the Holy Ghost"
And that has nothing at all to do with the Immaculate Conception. You do know that, don't you?

Can you please go and google the Immaculate Conception? It refers to MARY being born without original sin, not Jesus.
The Immaculate Conception and the virgin birth are frequently confused on this board and beyond, even by people claiming to be believers. Does my napper in.

Do you know, the Unionist posturing over Stormont at the moment would make you believe that Republicans/Nationalists actually give a fcuk about the place. Generally speaking we don't, its loss would be a bigger blow to Unionists.
Unionists will only care about Stormont until the moment there's a nationalist / republican majority and a SF First Minister. Then they'll collapse it and ask for direct rule again. They will never accept the reality of being a minority.
