The arrogance of some Tyrone posters is starting to annoy me (I'm not referring to Omagh Gaels joke in last post). The current Monaghan team deserve a lot of respect and won't be easily defeated in the final especially as its their second final in last 3 years now. They've some great footballers like Finlay,McManus,Freemans,Clerkin etc and could easily beat Tyrone.

Think they pick a ball from each bowl and then put them in another bowl spin them round and first one picked up is at home.

The gaa must have the biggest membership by far to be getting so much extra money (if this is accurate). Not sure how well it will go down.

Also not sure if Casement is the best place to be spending £50m. As someone has said the parking is not great when 20,000 go. Maybe there is some plan's for public transport to cater for fans. Will be some stadium if they spend that type of money on it + gaa's own money.

Sean is only one of four players. I don't know what he says at Tyrone team meetings so can't comment. What I do know is he gives his all when playing for the club.

I see not many including the Times are giving the Moy any chance ahead of Sunday. Think it could be tighter than some expect.

I've been to all Tyrone games this year and all but one of clubs league games. Every time I go to a club game I don't feel the need to slag of the county in order to say that I enjoy it. Don't understand why some posters feel the need to constantly take digs at Harte and Tyrone. In relation to club games the season will be completed by October/November with all 15 games played and playoffs + championship. A lot of county players will probably play as many competitive games for their clubs this year as county.
Oh great, finished by November, that would be wonderful ???.  What about the club players having to play a minimum of 3 (or more if replays as in the case of Omagh a few years ago) championship games inside 14 days to complete the championship in time for the Ulster Club, that's just a wonderful scenario isn't it.  And the last 3 rounds of the championship being played in the worst weather of the year, this really makes the club players feel valued!  As you are a Moy man, you seem to take the same attitude as the Moy county men in that you have little regard for club football.
[/quote]

On what grounds do you say they have little regard for club football?  They have played 5 league games this year winning 4 of them and hardly ever miss a game they are allowed to play in. That comment is a load of nonsense. I do agree though that the club season could be better run. Should probably start a few weeks earlier as teams training anyway and should be less breaks before county games.

Anyone else feel that most GAA folk in Tyrone are more eagerly awaiting the club championship than inter-county. I know I certainly am and many I be chatting to . Maybe it is all the success of Tyrone in recent years there isn't that same appetite for it. Was a time getting to an All Ireland semi-final was such excitement and in 2008 hardly a flag went up till a week before the final. Ulster final last year the players didn't even bother to do a lap of honour.
The treatment of clubs recently also soured a lot of people... any thoughts?

tut tut, typical elitist veiw, so we all have to sit back and triddle our thumbs in order to watch dooher and jordan  and co, tut tut, thats what u think of the clu player, i'd say u don't even have a club, jump on the tyyrone band wagon when its going well!!!!! how amany league games were u at, not many i'd say!!!

There are a lot of negative people about who are never happy including yourself. Judging by the support for early championship games it seems there is still good interest in Tyrone. Nothing wrong with supporting both club and county.

I'm very happy I can assure you. Am just asking do people feel less enthusiasm for inter-county football with all our recent success. It didn't really take off in 2008 till near the final. I went to all their games and was a marked decline in number of Tyrone supporters at Dublin game compared to 2005 agaisnt the Dubs (and the replay) and All Ireland semi weren't a huge amount either. I feel that same attitude now which I think is like the Kerry syndrome... wait for the final.
I am more into club football now but will go to Ulster final as it is a big day out and my children will enjoy it. Thanks for the concern about my hapiness al the same  ;)

Maybe after 35 All Irelands or so like Kerry I'll feel the same. For the minute I still enjoy supporting Tyrone and enjoying are success. Players like Dooher,O'Neill,McGuigan,Jordan etc won't be around for much longer and we should enjoy watching the most successful group of players the county has ever had while it lasts. There could be plenty of years ahead when we're not competing at the top.

I will also enjoy the club championship games and no doubt will take in a few this weekend. Just don't feel the need to talk down Tyrone in order to watch club football like a lot of posters here seem to do.

Just read that Down team. Am surprised how many of them I don't know

I see PJ is back in the subs. Glad to see that as really rated him
If the Down team line out with Benny, Gordon & Marty Clarke all in FF line ( I know Benny is 12) then our FB line could be in for a tough aul day of it unless Block & Joey are back there to help

If Down MF come out on top and kick the ball in fast to their FF line we could be in trouble alright. I'd say if we do see that you could see McCarron coming in early for either corner back though I have been impressed with Carlin this year. I've not seen enough of Swift to convince me yet but I think we were all surprised that Davey & Ricey got the chop and he didn't.

I think having a good "Playmaker" certainly adds to the game. A player who is composed on the ball, has great vision and can see space and possible runs and can control the play is worth a lot. Its like having an extra weapon in your armoury that can unlock defences. The way McGuigan used to dummy one way and do the opposite or like give you the eyes on direction but fist it the other way. These small things can lead to great passes and opens up play for your score takers. I'd say Mugsy especially but also SoN much prefer playing with a good playmaker who knows how they like the ball played in and when they can come running out for a pass and then swivel and get it played in behind. I for one think McCullagh has this over Penrose but Penrose's workrate and excellent tackling back will win out most of the time.

BTW, was the reason why this game was scheduled for a Sat evening?
Quite a lot of people I know aren't going to it because its on Friday evening.
Will it be mad busy there near Asda on a Sat at that time?

Assume its tv related. Its not a bad time for a match from the point of view that you can have a few drinks without worrying about work the next day. I'm sure it effects a few people who are working but sure some people work Sundays as well. Should still attract a big crowd and with the good weather should be a great evening. Assume there will be some extra traffic with it being a Saturday but hopefully not to bad.

GAA Discussion / Re: Kerry V Cork

Refs seem to have a thing for Kerry. Every time anyone gets within a metre of Cooper its a free in. Canty got sent off for winning the ball and Kerry given simple free. At end Cork player pulled down, Kerry player picked ball off ground and Darren O'sullivan ran out with ball taking 8-10 steps and not one free given.

Another decent game tonight with good scores from play. Last 4 or 5 games on tv have all been fairly good with upsets and decent quality. When you compare it to world cup in my opinion the games have been far more entertaining than anything produced there to date.

The media will wait for their to be one or two bad championship games then wheel out the articles about football being finished etc.

Micky talking through his ass again.  If he proposes to play club championshipo later in year when exactly is he proposing to do it.  If Tyrone go through the front door, they would be playing 18th July, 1st August, 22nd August and 19th September.  If they go through the back door they would be playing 10th July, 17th Jul, 24th July, 1st August, 22ng August and 19th September.  We know that if they got to All-Ireland Semi (after 1st August) there would be no players released before final if they got there, and there is no possible dates in before the semi's given his insistence on 14-21 days.

So basically Micky wants us to park the Club Championship until Tyrone are out, in a good year this would be 19th September, meaning that clubs play the 4 rounds championship in 4 weeks (including midweek replays as Omagh had before).  Now that would be really looking after the clubs.

On a sad note, Niall McKenna played for Donaghmore U21's on Weds night and there are rumours that Ardboe men going to play next starred game after Down game, is the Messiah's empire crumbling?  If it is he know's who to blame  >:(

Glad to here someone on here coming out with comments like that, Tyrone usually do well when we here this sort of thing. Not sure what informed poster it was that said in 2008 that Joe McMahon didn't care about Tyrone and the panel had given up.

I'd see more sense in fixing it in casement than clones
Very sensible heading into Belfast at 5 on a Saturday afternoon to a dump of a ground with no atmosphere

I'd imagine the majority of the crowd will get home a lot quicker from Belfast than they would Clones. 5 on a Saturday shouldn't be that bad a time to head into Belfast. Better pitch in Belfast to and players seem happy to play there. Someone would have complained if it was in Clones, its a no win situation.
