Do we have a hope against Kildare?  At least we avoided another Ulster team.

General discussion / World Rally 2009 in CAVAN!!!
June 25, 2008, 01:07:05 PM
The  World Rally Ireland 2009 will have a stage in Cavan.  It will be the Glangevlin stage that was used in the old circuit of Ireland (when they did a circuit of Itreland).

I wonder what Loeb will make of the  cavan roads?

Get there early as there is no way out once it starts.

General discussion / Searching for your own posts
June 18, 2008, 05:27:10 PM
May have been done before but how do you search for your own posts?

Want to review my previous posts to see if I have become enlighted by the various forums or fora.

Trying to get the Anglo Celt online.  Can only get a search result from 15/05/2008.

Are other regional papers any good in this new fangled age? :-\

Shocked.

As someone who would have some feelings on the subject (wooly liberal views), all they need a guns on the web page and it could be a recruitment poster for any illegal organbisation thet has or will exist in Northern Ireland.

Shocked

GAA Discussion / What to do with the money
April 11, 2008, 09:16:54 PM
As all media says that it will pass, is there way that it may be more palatable?

How about giving the grant money that a player was due to his club?  Teams would see a benefit if one their players made the county team.  It would also be a payback to the club for all development of the player?

It would be interesting to see how the GPA would find this.

Just noticed this in the paper.  Pretty good on our first attempt, only beaten by Finland, who have been doing this for ages!  Well done everyone.

General discussion / Phishing
December 12, 2007, 11:09:46 AM
I have just tried to go to MSN Hotmail from the General discussion site.  McAfee has stopped me, saying that there may be someone trying to Phish.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Has the site been breached?

GAA Discussion / Would you take the grant if offered?
December 10, 2007, 03:27:35 PM
I'd love play senior county football for Cavan and win Ulster.

I would expect not be out of pocket if I travel to training.

I would hope that my employer would support me with time off etc.

If not, I'd have to think about it but bottom line is that I would be doing it for pride and enjoyment.

How old is the GPA?

When first mooted, there was a need.  GAA seemed not to care about the players.

When did it become about getting grants for Inter county players?

Look at  what is happening at the moment.  No intercounty  action but clubs are out there training for the club all-irelands?  Will they be included in the allocation of grants?  Shouldn't they be?

Why do inter county players need these grants?  Reduce the amount of time players are allowed to train.  If a player want to train more, it is then a personal choice.

Please outline the facts without bombast and vitriol please.

So Dessie Farrell says that player might go on strike if the grant(?) system is not sorted out?

Bad timing as the serious money generating time to the GAA is over.  League football doesn't appear to be very popular.

Should the players go mon strike?

General discussion / Don't you just hate Travellodges
September 04, 2007, 09:04:12 PM
I don't know why I do it?  Good hotels the same price.  Never again.  The last ring of Dante's Inferno would be preferable.

General discussion / Best Internet Option?
August 30, 2007, 11:46:33 AM
I am leaving Dublin and going down to Cavan.  I am currently using Ripwave but coverage doesn't go to Cavan.  What would th best option be?  Use a laptop and see the ads for O2 and 3G.  Are they any good.  Will be on a bottom floor flat so would I get good coverage with a wireless system e.g. Digiweb, clearwire. Help please and if this has been discussed here, patience and point me in the right direction.

GAA Discussion / Are the defibrilators in place?
August 29, 2007, 07:09:34 PM
What is the state of play currently?

After the death in Spain and the problems at Leister last night, have defibrillators been put in place at GAA grounds?  And have people been trained?

Can these problems be discovered by tests?  After Cormac McAnnalen and the young rugby lad from Armagh died , there were call for young sportsmen to be tested?  Is that test still happening or is it out of sight, out of mind?

The best Goalkeepeer that I've seen this year is Cluxton.

Why?
Seems to have curbed his impetuous nature, getting less physically involved in the opposition.  He is a good shot stopper and is very good one on one.  If you look at his saves, he doesn't show his arse to it.  He stays on his feet and makes the forward make the decision and then acts. He is also very good at distribution or should I say that Dublin are very good at offer themselves for passes.

Discuss.

GAA Discussion / Tommy Murphy Cup - Conclusion
August 04, 2007, 01:58:31 PM
Not finished yet but was the game as exciting as the radio commentry suggested.  Was it good football?

The co-commentating by Sean Boylan was a hoot.  Great delight without excessive criticing.

GAA Discussion / Do we need pundits?
August 03, 2007, 01:52:03 PM
I've been reading the thread on who should be droped from th Sunday Game.  In the course of about 25 posts, there was mention of who should take over except for Dara O'Cinneide and Daire O'Brien from Setanta.

No pundit was good enough, some were too opinionated, too childish. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM A PUNDIT?

Some gave the old chestnut that in times gone by, people would stop and listen raptly in the pub when the sunday game was on  We are al just getting older.

I am hoping to go to Breffni park over the weekend.  What is the disabled access like there, parking etc.? Who should I get in touch with/member of County board?

I know I should know but it wasn't on my radar until recently.

Going around the country, is disabled access treated well in other grounds?

GAA Discussion / louth win

A good win for Louth.  Is this year your year?  What is the preference for the next round?
