I didn't say they went out to be relegated but ironically that failure gave them did give them the opportunity for an All Ireland title.
With a tag name like Sambackamongthebushes obviously your GAA knowledge is limited. Did no-one tell you?...   ::)

fox if you wanted to deflect argument to my tag you should have checked my profile first and you would have seen the date it was registered. i have been reading this board for quite a while now but never felt moved to post anything until i read the "foxshite" you were spreading yesterday about a fellow tyrone club (and just so you are straight on this i have no association what so ever with cookstown)

You registered in September 4th, 2008 when Kerry were the All Ireland champions  ::)   You claim not be from Cookstown, but you are getting very carried away with their win. Fair play to them and is a great answer to the KKK loyalists who burnt their club. I'm just saying they had to get relegated to achieve it...  don't go overboard on it, winsamsoon  ;)

by congratulating them once on a historic achievement is hardly going overboard, the rest of my posts are reactions to your cheap digs and again i dont see the relevance of the tag to our debate, not that it bothers me so excuse me if i dont bother to explain it.

its fair to say this will be my last post on the matter, one of the reasons i never bothered to post before as its imposible to get a coherant well advised debate going when you have idiots like the fox involved

Sam... your idea of debate is others agreeing with your opinion. I'm not really a fox by the way  :o

cheap digs at the expense of others are not my idea of debate

I am happy for them but will be very suspicious if they get relegated again and win All Ireland in 2011-12  ???

you have obviously never played the game. no team i played on or no one i ever knew that played for other teams ever went out to get relegated regardless of what their chances were next year

Not one to rain on anyone's parade but I have my reservations about Cookstown's All Ireland win.
Was relegation from senior football such a bad thing after all? This team reached the senior championship a few years ago and now an Intermediate title makes history.  Might be a good move for other strong senior team to get relegated. Did Trillick not win Ulster after getting relegated as well? Much of the reason they went down was loss of Mugsy and Mulgrew for all of 2008. Is good win but let's not go overboard...  shouldn't have been there in the first place.

catch yourself on fox, i would say half the division one teams in tyrone would struggle to won the intermediate title yesterday, it takes a great consistant all year effort to win all irelands at any level, and as the man says you still have to win them on the day

Yeah it was a good achievement but needed relegation to get it first... Donaghmore must be kicking themselves  ;)

very weak argument fox, are you suggesting that any team that is relegated should not play championship football again until they get back to the level they came from. i know sounds ridiculous doesn't it

congratulations to cookstown

given the fact that they were the first team in tyrone to win the o neill cup, would this still be considered to be their greatest day or is their all ireland title yesterday their greatest day. going by alot of press reports the media have yesterday as their greatest ever achievement but personally i still think winning the O Neill cup is the pinicale of all club footballers in tyrone. i am not trying to take anything away for a marvous historical achievement, but am just interested to near peoples views on this.
