I feel that Charlie Mulgrew would be a good appointment for Sligo. I know you had a bad experience with the last Fermanagh manager you appointed but Charlie is a different type of Manager. Only problem for Sligo now is that unless the new man wins a Connacht title they will be seen as a failure. After not getting the Donegal job i think Charlie will be anxious to stay involved in county football and its only 70 miles from Letterkenny to Sligo Town.

They reckon hes even worsr than Dom Corrigan.

Some of the stories i heard coming from the fermanagh camp were hilarious. Think he just got lucky with the most talented squad fermanagh had in years

Fermanagh players are never done bitchin about their manager(s).  Bit like the Rossies, but at least Fermanagh have actually achieved something recently, even if they haven't won an Ulster title.  Roscommon should start looking at the quality of their own club championship and general attitude and application of their players instead of giving out about Maughan.

I have to say I agree with both of the above.  Also, everything you ever needed to know about the Irish soccer fraternity was encapsulated by Louis Kilcoyne last night.  He spoke of all the people who attended meetings of Keep Rovers at Milltown (KRAM) who never bothered their heads actually attending a match!.

The opening up of Croke Park will ensure more long-term damage to Irish sport than the Keane-McCarthy spat.

I had to laugh (actually I didn't) at Peter Byrne, former Irish Times soccer and athletics correspodent, describing how the GAA and country 'came of age' by opening Croke Park.  Pure bullshit.  That moron Seán Kelly was spouting away as well.  He is becoming increasingly fond of the sound of his own voice.

Roberts, one of Spurs' most revered player

You're having a laugh. A big stopper of a centre back, nothing more.

Tony,

Can you post the link to the blog you mention.  Personally, I hate to see Spurs involved in this circus again.  The club hasn't been stable since Nicholson!

Its' always the same on this board.  Any thread that Tony Fearon is on is used a stick to beat him.  Any chance we could discuss spurs without people hurling personal abuse.

I, for one, am sick of it.

So, did Jol deserve to be sacked, or did he fall out with the wrong people (Helmsley?) on the board?

edit: it's a done deal - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/

Why should anyone feel sorry for Chris Hughton given the way the Tottenham defence has performed this season?  To be frank, anyone who comments on the situation at Tottenham is doing so in a vacum becuase we can't be sure which players Jol bought. Kabul was terrible last night, but was he a Jol or a Camoli/Levy signing? Dawson was a Jol signing and he is shit.

I don't think Spurs lost their Champions' League spot at Upton Park in 06.  They did it when they drew, instead of winning, at Highbury the week before. Besides, how can you plan for food poisoning?

I liked Jol.   He earned the trust of Tottenham supporters and his record was good until this season.  The question is whether he was fatally underminded by the board or by his own signings?  That's the issue I would like to see addressed by Tottenham fans on this board.

Spurs have now had 10 managers while Arsene Wenger has been in control at Highbury.  I believe Jol should not have been sacked and given time to turn things around as he had done enough to suggest he was a capable manager.

Armagh4Samagain you really remind me of Pudsy Ryan from the Far East magazine which we got in P5.  He spelt everything as he said it, and used no punctuation.  We had to "translate" Pudsy into proper English.  Did anyone else do this at school?

Hillarious and well spotted.  I used to read Pudsy, alright, but never had to clean up his copy.  I think he was Ireland only dyslexic diarist.

do you have a team list for that ? any legends playing . Liam Mchale should be eligble now

Serious bit of name dropping here -

I met him on Grafton St on Friday afternoon and remarked that he looked in great shape.

He told me he is playing lower league basketball and is now lighter than when he was playing senior inter-county football.

There cant be too many inter-county footballers who get lighter when they retire

He had also mislaid his wife, but didn't appeared too bothered by it.

I think self-laothing is the real problem here.

You can, and probably should, but she'll have the cops 'round in no time

Just getting back to those Mayo idiots, the funniest thing was their webpage on Bebo which targetted Parnell Park for their next trouble making exercise.

There were three things wrong with that assertion.

(i) Dublin wont be playing Mayo in Parnell Park next year, not competitively anyway.

(ii) Its a bad idea for visiting fans to cause trouble in Parnell Park.

(ii) It's an even worse idea to let the Dubs know you're coming!

Quote200 pages into  the IT book and it is excellent but I will watch the movie too. I suppose King is one of few novelists who have had films version surpass thier books i.e Shawshank and Green Mile.

Has anyone who says that Shawshank the movie is better than the book actually read the book

"It" was an overly long book and a rubbish movie.

As a Tv mini series "Salems Lot" wasn't a bad adaptaion for its time.
I think you're being hard on the movie there.  As I recall, its finished at no 1 in a survey of the top 100 movies here at Christmas.
