Strange headline by Irish News stating that: "Ulster Council explains grounds decision."  In face they don't explain it at all and merely say all future games will be played at county grounds. Is this just for senior clubs?  So much for the 'club' championship.
I take it this means clubs who are designated as secondary county grounds won't have to pay the insurance for that anymore. Danny Murphy and the Ulster Council should have made that decision BEFORE the Fianna-Roslea game.

Is hardly the way to deal with it. If we did that to every politician who has messed things up there wouldnt be enough paint to go around and then bankers, Bishops who covered up child abuse, unionists or Republican politicians each side hates up here.... on and on. It ain't the way...

Don't know if it was just me or did some of the st galls players look a bit over weight and not as trim as you would expect this time of year? Looked to be a bit of a gut on a few of them! (not counting the keeper!)

One or two certainly didn't look fully fit and when Darren O'Hare came on I looked at his gut and realised there is life in me yet :D :D

Is it not in O'Hare's genes to carry a pound or two around the middle.

Jeans, tracksuit, I'd say he's carry a pound or two around the middle no matter what he wears!!!

Is Darren not son of PJ?

He is indeed.

"Throw it in that big charity bucket. By the way who's collects that and monitors where it goes? Sometimes I wonder...

I hear there was a very small crowd at Coalisland game in Omagh and Damien O'Hagan on q101 saying there'd have been 3000 to 4,000 more if it had been in at Coalisland's ground with people attending from rite down to Ballinderry. Was unjustified decison but now they won Im sure the'island are happy enough.

Heard that Ulster Council representative at Killyman game 2 weeks ago was unhappy with grass banks, PA system and playing surface in Coalisland and reported this back. I also heard that Tyone rep on committee deciding venue was the only one who voted FOR today's game to be played in Coalisland

Quote from: longrunsthefox on Today at 10:42:45 PM

So they allowed supporters of ladies Ulster final teams to face those 'dangers' the following week? and had no problem with Clonoe there two years ago with same PA system, grass banks and playing surface which Tyrone have often played on... strange. seems there was more to it than that as they got no club champioship games this year either.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good whinge Foxy. Seems to me a lot of the County had a lot of sympathy for Coalisland and their plight. That is until you came on here gurning and whinging. Get over it......!!! Or perhaps go and lobby all those County Board men you seem to know and give us all a break on here.

Best of luck to Na Fianna in the semi final!

They hardly have a gripe just because I came on here.Talk to members of Coalisland and they going mad about it and with the county board. Aye, I agree the rest of the county sympathises with them, I didnt say otherwise.

Typical of the sentiments of many of this board. The IRA apologised but they get roundly attacked by you, yet each of you have ignored my point that the british army have yet to even admit they were an active protagonist let alone apologised to it's victims.
As for the victims of the disappeared, haven't you noticed a steady increase in the numbers being found. They aren't being found by chance.

So easy to criticise the group which reacts to the aggressor isn't it?

wat about the Brits is not a reasoned arguement. We know what they are and wat to expect from them. So now those who do the same as the Provos are 'traitors' according to Sinn Fein... is hard to figure out the logic.

FFS! they are still denying some of the disapeared killings! Some use an apology when you put a no warning bomb in a bar knowing what the outcome will be.. hardly a mistake.

P.
s. Point to ONE occasion where an IRA Volunteer walked into a primary school and committed mass murder of children

I remember one IRA 'volunteer' walking into a primary school classroom and murdering the teacher in front of his pupils.
Not much respect for the effect that would have on children. Will never forget that as long as I live.

Still does not answer my question though does it. If Tonto wants to liken the ENTIRE IRA campaign to Dunblane, then give even ONE single, solitary example of what I asked. Sensationalist, shameless nonsense.

***Point well made Nally but there were many actions could be catagorised as war crimes. Forcing civilians to drive cars with bombs into army barracks, no warning bombs in pubs in England and here... both sides did very dastardly deeds including the killing of innocent children.  (Cue.... 'there will will civilian casualties in war' comment)

The best manager calls it for what it is... a waste of time and does nothing for the promotion of Gaelic football.

Bloody kids eh ?
Keep the likes of them away from Croke Park .
Purists only ,bring back the ban, rule 21, rule 42 etc etc yawnnnnnn  :(

What I'm saying is it's rent a crowd to justify it. No-one mentioned bringing back the ban or Rule 21 or 42... just saying this game is  a contrived heap of dung.

The crowd tonight will be bigger than the vast majority of gaa matches played this year so their must be some interest in it. At a time of year when gaa players are usually out of the limelight its good to get a bit of coverage. Hopefully it will be a much improved game tonight. Some people probably won't admit it even if it is.

The crowd tonight will be packed with about 40,000 screaming kids as the GAA poured all the tickets into schools to bump up attendance and justify this nonsense. Listen tonite and you will hear it.

Coalisland fail to get venue changed
29 October 2010

Newly-crowned Tyrone football champions Coalisland are up in arms after the Ulster Council refused their request to have Sunday's AIB Ulster club SFC quarter-final against Roslea moved to their home pitch.

The game will be played in Omagh's Healy Park, despite Fr Peter Campbell Park in Coalisland being one of four designated county grounds in Tyrone.

An angry Na Fianna chairman Gerard McStravick told The Irish News: "It's just a kick in the teeth. We are extremely disappointed with the decision and it's a blow for us, a blow for the town and a blow for grassroots football.

"It would have been an incredible occasion to host our first Ulster fixture in 20 years in our own town, we all feel let down by the Council's decision."

To make matters worse, Coalisland claim they haven't been given a valid reason for the decision.

"We can't understand it," McStravick added.

"We've still got no word as to why we aren't allowed to host it. Clonoe were able to play their first round Ulster match here in 2008 against St. Eunan's and we've actually improved our facilities since then.

"Our facilities are second to none so why is it not okay for us to play here? The Ulster Council has to decide whether this is a club championship or a county championship."
