Don't think he was bought as a first choice,  so yeah, I'm sure Rodgers is more aware than anyone that he's not the answer. That one that was slipped into him on the edge of the box early in the second half - all I could think of was "imagine Suarez getting that chance!" as he scuffed a shot towards DeGea!  :)
..........

And there ye were all summer telling us that Lambert was good
For at least ten goals next season. At least give him a chance to settle
in before ye write him off.

I don't remember opening my mouth about Lambert.

And yes, of course he should not be written off, but he was absolutely NOT brought in to be a regular first team starter. He came in right after the season ended FFS!

Shrewdness

J70, i wasn't specifically referring to you re Lambert, so apologies if you thought i was. As for Lambert, he definitely can play a key role for Liverpool, possibly as an impact sub. He has scored goals whoever he has played for.. Maybe he's feeling a bit of pressure being at his hometown club, with part of him still in disbelief that he's there at all!!.....BC1, don't worry, there's nobody at United getting carried away. Pre season went better anyone could have hoped for, but that's all it was. There are still major flaws in that United team.

Tony Baloney

I don't think anyone (including Lambert) thought he was coming in as anything other than backup/Carling Cup fodder.

Fee accepted from Bayern for Reina, around £2m

He should be our number 1.

I think he has been under rated by Rogers. Clash of some sort?

For a few years Reina was one of the best about, but the last 2 with us he was a liability at times. Never seen a top keeper always so easy to beat at his near post.

Always had a lot of time for Reina especially as he stayed around while others jumped ship but between flirting with Barca and burning his bridges with Rodgers and a lot of the fans last season it's best he moves on.

Going to the club with the best keeper in the world means its the bench for Pepe (think they have those bucket seats so should be comfy) but wish him all the best anyway.

I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either

Good. Happy with that. Some much needed pressure for Johnson. Now if they get Moreno and Lavazzi or someone like that, I'll be happy (or happy ish, can't get too positive too quick).

Gabriel_Hurl

Well Howard Webb has retired from reffing - so that should give us a few more points each season

And Chairman Tom Werner is in the running to be next commissioner of the MLB - he is in the final 3 candidates to replace Bud Selig

AZOffaly

did Webb not give us a lock of penalties at Old Trafford last year, or was that Clattenburg?

Yeah but I hear United have tapped him and Phil Dowd up,  both refs are discussing terms.

AZOffaly

Speaking of tapping up, I see Barcelona have basically flat out stated they contacted Suarez before the world cup and told him they wanted him. That old tapping up rule is a joke.

""Barcelona made first contact before the World Cup and told him that he was the right age and experience to take the plunge," Bartomeu said.

"We knew many years ago that Suarez loves our club and loves our city. Therefore everything was perfect and the right atmosphere to accept Suarez was created.

"We knew he had better offers but he decided to come to Barca.

"We didn't rethink the decision after the bite and so we told Luis. He knows he made a mistake and apologised.""

Copied from RAWK about the Moreno transfer and 'aggling!!!!

QuoteAyre: How much? Quick!
Sevilla: What?
Ayre: He's for the first team.
Sevilla: Oh, ehm... twenty million.
Ayre: Right.
Sevilla: What?
Ayre: There you are.
Sevilla: Wait a minute!
Ayre: What?
Sevilla: Well, we're... we're supposed to haggle!
Ayre: No, no, no, I've got to get...
Sevilla: What do you mean, "No, no, no"?
Ayre: I haven't got time, we've got preseason soon...
Sevilla: Well, give him back, then.
Ayre: No, no, no, I just paid you!
Sevilla: Daniel!
Daniel Levy: Yeah?
Sevilla: This bloke won't haggle!
Daniel Levy: Won't haggle?!
Ayre: All right, do we have to?
Sevilla: Now look, I want twenty million for him.
Ayre: Ehm...I just gave you twenty million.
Sevilla: Now are you telling me he's not worth twenty million?
Ayre: No.
Sevilla: Look at him on Youtube! See the quality, that's not any of your old Bertrand rubbish!
Ayre: All right, I'll give you nineteen million then.
Sevilla: No, no, no, come on, do it properly!
Ayre: What?
Sevilla: Haggle properly, "he isn't worth nineteen million"!
Ayre: Well, you just said he was worth twenty million!
Sevilla: Oh dear, oh dear. Come on, haggle!
Ayre: Uh, all right, I'll give you ten million.
Sevilla: That's more like it! Ten million? Are you trying to insult me? Me, with a poor dying club? Rakitic gone, and now you're trying to steal our star player for ten million? Ten million!?
Ayre: All right, I'll give you eleven million!
Sevilla: Now you're getting it. Eleven million!? Did I hear you right? Eleven? He cost me twelve million, you want to ruin me?
Ayre: Seventeen million?
Sevilla: No, no, no, no, not seventeen million!
Ayre: Eighteen million?
Sevilla: No, no, no, you've got to go to fourteen million now.
Ayre: All right, I'll give you fourteen million.
Sevilla: Fourteen million!? Are you joking?
Ayre: That's what you told me to say!
Sevilla: Oh, dear...
Ayre: Oh, tell me what to say, please!
Sevilla: Offer me fourteen million.
Ayre: I'll give you fourteen million.
Sevilla: He's offering me fourteen for him!
Ayre: Fifteen million!
Sevilla: Seventeen million. My last word, I won't take a penny less, or strike me dead.
Ayre: Sixteen million!
Sevilla: Done! Nice to do business with you.
Ayre: Mhm.
Sevilla: Tell you what, I'll throw you in Aspas back aswell.
Ayre: I don't want him, but thanks.
Sevilla: Daniel!
Daniel Levy: Yeah?
Ayre: All right, all right, all right.
Sevilla: Now where's the sixteen million you owe me?
Ayre: I just gave you twenty million.
Sevilla: Oh yeah, that's right, that's four million I owe you, then.
Ayre: No, that's all right, that's fine, that's fine.
Sevilla: No, hang on, I've got it here somewhere.
Ayre: No, it's all right, that's four million for Aspas.
Sevilla: Four million? For Iago Blades? Four million!? Look at it! He's worth ten million if he's worth a Euro!
Ayre: You just offered him back to me for nothing!
Sevilla: Yes, but he's worth ten million.
Ayre: All right, all right!
Sevilla: No, no, no, no, he's not worth ten milliom, you're supposed to argue! "Ten million for him, you must be mad!"

(Ayre leaves shaking his head and asking if Davies' paperwork has DEFINITELY gone through)

Sevilla: Oh, well, one born every minute
