If you want to be a fvck up and make bad decision after bad decision, that's on you......I shouldn't be forced to subsidize your lifestyle

I can give you one specific example of somebody who's a f**k up and has made bad decision after bad decision, and yet has been subsidised by the taxpayers - of which he is not one

That example is Donald Trump

And you just voted for him

So you, like all right-wing idiots, either do not believe a word you say, or are simply full of shit

In your case it's both

Over 70 million voted for trump and the Republicans, that's a serious number, whether you like them or policies or not they have a serious mandate.

I wouldn't have been a fan of Trump, either before or after this nightmare, but to go around and basically calling everyone facist's or whatever you've called them is wrong, you don't even live there so at first hand don't actually understand it.

I truly believe this vote was anyone but Trump, had the Republican Party anyone decent they'd have won. A bit like anyone but Hilary the last time

I do understand fascism and Republicans and Donald Trump are certainly fascist

Republicans are fascist because they are now wholly subservient to Trumpist fascism, they've gone along with it completely

There isn't really much to understand about Trump because he's a very uncomplex individual, he's entirely predictable

The reasons that people vote for fascists aren't that complex either but they are very interesting

Sadly the truth is that in times of economic pain, anger and a mass propaganda environment which directs that anger away from where it deserves to be aimed and onto an innocent "other", fascism becomes very popular indeed

The reasons people flocked to Adolf Hitler are the same reasons people idolise Trump

Any criticism of my line of argument that I've met on this forum has been typically cloaked in the stifling political correctness of the right and fake victimhood

Ultimately what Trumpist fascism is all about is political correctness - it is the ultimate extremist political correctness

It brooks no argument, it refuses challenge, it creates a fantasy world of make believe, and cocoons itself within that, to save itself from being challenged

As soon as it has to debate on objective facts and reason, it is finished - that's why it never debates on objective facts and reason

It peddles simplistic, easy, context-free false answers, and draws people into the fascist echo chamber, from which it is very difficult to ever escape - those inside the echo chamber retreat into safe spaces of the mind

When people really do tell it like is about what Trumpist fascism is, those who believe in it claim fake victimhood as a reflex action, because they are offended that their views have even been challenged

But a person cannot be a victim when stupid opinions they hold are being exposed as stupid

So Trumpist fascism is both extreme bullying and extreme cowardice

Bullying is of course a form of cowardice, so everything about Trumpist fascism amounts to cowardice

The "intellectual" environment in which elite American right-wingers are produced is incredibly shallow

Main Street

70 million doesn't mean 70million for Trump.   The sole republican candidate could have been David Dukes and he'd be guaranteed 55m  - 60m of the vote.

Nixon in 1972  got 60% of the vote and that with the poxy stain of Vietnam war /protests, Laos, Kent State, Jackson State on his record.

sid waddell

Another giveaway of somebody who is way down the rabbit hole is constant projection

Poster "whitey" on this forum is a good example of this, with his regular line "believe whatever you want to believe"

That's exactly what he does and he has a serious cognitive dissonance - an internal denial and delusion in other words - about what he is writing

He does know, in one sense, that he generally only believes what he wants to believe, instead of reality, because reality does not accord with his prejudices

But it would be too challenging, too difficult for him, to think in a manner which does not align with his prejudices

So instead he has decided to retreat into having a simplistic, stagnant, fetid view of the world which aligns only with his prejudices - and nothing can permeate that cocoon - his feelings defeat facts

And a weapon to attack others and protect that cocoon is projection

The thing is that the rabbit hole is so deep, that he likely has suckered himself into genuinely believing the shit he writes - that's an outcome of sunk costs, emotional investment

While simultaneously also knowing that it's bullshit

I think the 70 million figure is mainly a Trump vote rather than a Republican vote

The two heavily overlap obviously, ie. in that, had they run a traffic cone, a wheelie bin or a literal turd sandwich as the candidate, it would probably still have got 59-60 million votes, but I don't think a bog standard Republican crazy like Pence could have turned out 70 million

Why? Because Pence is incredibly boring in terms of personality, whereas Trump is a magnetic figure, whether you love him or hate him

America is so into its celebrity culture that it was ripe for a celebrity turned demagogue

But it turns out there are also enough people to defeat that

Democratic presidential candidates have won 7 of the last 8 popular votes

There is a clear majority who stand against the Republican party

Texas is not far away from a tipping point, Puerto Rico and DC are not far away from statehood

The Republican candidate in this election, Trump, may be about to destroy the Republican party from within as revenge if the party does not stand with him in his efforts to annul the democratic vote of the American people

If the Republican party does stand with Trump in his illegitimate efforts to stay in power, they will have to live with the legacy that they were the party that wanted to abolish American democracy

This threat from Trump applies too to the right-wing industrial bullshit complex, most obviously exemplified by the split within Fox News where the "news" people - Brett Baier, Chris Wallace etc., see reality, whereas the demagogue wing, made up by Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Lou Dobbs, don't

Trump has Fox in a bind too

All these are existential problems because it's unlikely that Trump will just disappear politically, although at the same time, I wouldn't be that surprised if he was dead within a year or two

Reasonable and sensible gun control (and severe penalties for straw buyers etc)

Free public transport For low income residents

UBI (with conditions)

Multi Trillion investment in inner cities (administered by professionals without political affiliations otherwise it will become a slush fund)

Policing reform-investment in non lethal technologies, civilian ride alongside, hiring of minority officers

Imprisonment only be used as a last resort-put non violent offenders  to work in their communities

Massive investment in health care programs to address obesity, diabetes, heart disease-hire minorities and veterans. It would pay for itself in 5 years

Ban tobacco

Rule put in place as to how soon to an election a, SJC can be appointed

Current tax return requirement for ALL seeking public office

Path to citizenship for dreamers and non criminal undocumented coupled with stringent border and immigration enforcement

Jesus Whitey, you're practically a socialist.

Was about to say, whitey potentially the best wind up merchant/debate starter the board has seen in a while if they're his genuine beliefs.

Absolutely not.....I'm a fiscal conservative.....I believe every single thing I posted up there.

That's why I laugh at some people claiming I'm some crazy right winger....nothing could be further from the truth.  I'll confess that I'm right of center when it comes to fiscal and law enforcement issues.

There's plenty of money over here to give everyone a fair shake. And by everyone, I mean people who want to work, obey the law as best they can and raise their families

If you want to be a fvck up and make bad decision after bad decision, that's on you......I shouldn't be forced to subsidize your lifestyle

What about subsidising the life of someone who isn't a f**k up?

Someone who got a bad start in life

Someone who got dealt a tough hand

Someone who's made mistakes

Someone who just never seems to have a stroke of luck

I'd happily pay more in taxes to help the less fortunate in society. As long as people are trying their best for themselves and their kids and going in the right direction, I'm good with that

Every American government since probably the 60s has fucked up in the economic department

Republicans and Democrats traditionally are not massively different economically

The Democrats are usually bog standard neo-liberal while the Republicans are absolute in their desire for plutocracy

The latter is obviously worse than the former but that's not to say the former is great by a long shot

What there is in the Democratic party and among much of its support is an ever growing mood to change things to a more progressive stance - so the Democrats are the only hope America has as regards electoral politics

Social mobility in America has collapsed, wealth inequality has skyrocketed, the desperation that led people into the arms of Trump is real

America was at its strongest economically when it had the post war welfare state consensus, or what amounted to the watered down American version of it

Now it's just plutocracy, oligarchy, kleptocracy, and if you fall through the very wide cracks, you're fucked

The Anglo-American economic model has failed

This is undeniable

It's why America got Trump - but economically, Trump was the same utter shite on steroids, dressed up in slightly different clothes

What America needs is a bold progressive politics in every department

Go big, go bold, or go home

Milltown Row2

So you think 200 years will be changed soon? I've not seen a party in the states that's broke the mould..

You've at the very least labour, conservative and the Liberals who were more popular before the Labour Party.

Trump for all his faults (of which there was many) didn't get involved globally as previous ones, ie less drones bombings which I hope continues

Interesting dynamic about to break out in the Democrats if Biden will do a Starmer and head to the centre ground or move towards Universal Healthcare/student debt forgiveness/increase minimum wage.

AOC has come out strong today but hard to see a moderate like Biden do anything drastic especially with the house not in his favour.

Dems need to be very careful or they'll totally f**k themselves for the midterms and 2024!!
