Yeah thanks Fionntamhnach.  What they had me do was go to services, go to number 4 (system set up) then type 01 and hit select.  This opened a hidden menu.  Then had to select new installation go through that and when it was finished hit the sky button.  After doing this I now have rte, but the woman said there is a problem and until it is fixed we may loose those channels every now and again and to run that fix every time until they have released a patch for it.

Not sure what you mean by bonus mix, but the min package seems to be £16 per month.  The sky + box is £99 but if you say a friend referred you then you can get it free and the friend gets £50 m&s voucher.  RTE and TG4 are part of the variety pack along with sky 1, paramount comedy, bravo etc.

Yeah i have just the basic package, i didnt check to see if rte was included because I just assumed it was because I had it before.  I rang sky again there and got a different woman who has said it is a known issue and gave me a fix, but said the fix may not work but to keep trying it for a couple of weeks to see does it eventually work! Crazy, but she did confirm that you should receive the rte channels up here.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks Lad, but it seems to be rte1, rte2 and tg4 blocked the whole time.  I rang sky and they said rte isnt available in the North, but im sure we had it at home and I had it i my old house.  The sky woman said someone must have known the frequency and tuned it in for us in the old place but i dont remember that.

Thanks as well Trevor but sky are doing the broadband too and they wont have the phone line in for another couple of weeks.  They are doing the phone, broadband and sky tv for 27 per month and that includes line rental.  BT wanted 125 to install the line then 28 per month for just phone, broadband and line rental.

Does anyone in the North have bother getting RTE on sky?  I got sky in on Saturday and when I go to RTE it says this programme cannot be displayed or something like that.  Im sure I had it in my old house.  Does anyone know if it has to be tuned in or anything?  Missed the tyrone kerry game because I cant see TG4 either.  Any ideas anyone?  :-\

Carr has eight-week ban quashed

Ross Carr was outspoken after the defeat by Fermanagh
Down manager Ross Carr has been cleared to run the sideline after having an eight-week suspension quashed by the Disputes Resolution Authority.

Carr was banned for criticising a referee after his team's National League defeat by Fermanagh in April.

An initial appeal was turned down before he was granted 'interim relief' to be in the Down dugout for the Ulster SFC games against Tyrone.

A further appeal was upheld by the DRA on Wednesday night.

Carr will now be on the sideline for the Ulster SFC semi-final against Armagh on 29 June.

On a similar note, what are the bredagh posters opinions on the number of non-Bredagh lads on their starting team? I know of a few Bredagh lads whom came through the underage system who have jacked gaelic in, because they felt they were being given a fair crack of the whip at senior level.

dundrumite, I dont think is a fair assessment of the way the bredagh team is run - although I am a blow in myself so maybe not in the best position to judge.  I joined when I was 20 and am in my 4th season now, our captian joined at the same time and he was 21 so its not just old fellas joining.  There is a serious amount of talent coming through the bredagh underage set up, it just hasn't all filtered through to senior level yet, but it will soon and they will learn from the older palyers on the team who have played different styles of football in different counties.  I can't honestly think of any young players who came to training week in week out and never got a chance - Paddy Heaney started 5 minors in our championship game against carryduff and they all performed brilliantly.

Voted yes, hope they get through.

Our yard should be fine, has a good high fence the whole way round. The girlfriend had a couple of labs growing up and seemed to get really attached to them alright.

So do you know how it works then with trying to arrange one for christmas?  Will the breeder hold on to the pup until it gets close to christmas or would I have to lift it and try to keep it with family.  Dont like that second option as it couldnt be to nice for the pup moving about like that.

Thanks Puckoon, will pm ya now...

My girlfriend has been dropping hints about getting a labrador for a long time, ive decided im going to try to get one sorted as a christmas present - anybody have any advice on picking a dog?

A few people i have spoke to have said this is a bad time to buy a dog as they can be farmed for christmas.

She has had dogs her whole life and knows a lot about caring for them and that side of things, but I have never had to actually buy a pet and it is proving difficult enough to find a breeder.  What price should I be expecting to pay?

Any advice more than welcome...  Thanks!

Firstly congratulations to Dundrum (league champions) and Tullylish, hope they do well in division 2.

Bredagh were beat today by the referee.  We were a point down when we got a goal.  The ref gave the goal then disallowed it saying it was a square ball.  The ball came off the crossbar or the post and apparantly that means it cant be square ball - I dont no the exact rule but you would think the referee would.  Real sickening way to end the season.
