I see they are not starting league until 1st April - same as last year - ayou would think they might have started a week or 2 earlier especially if there is an extra team in division 3

U-21 Tournament Semi-Final: Tyrone 2-11 Armagh 1-8

Tyrone U-21s recorded a comfortable enough victory over Armagh earlier today at Edendork.  Both sides were short a number of key players, although Armagh were probably more understrength than Tyrone due to the fact that several of the Orchard U-21 players will be in action for Armagh tomorrow in the Gaelic Life Dr McKenna Cup.

Tyrone played with the aid of a stiff breeze in the first half and were very much the dominant side during those opening thirty minutes.  Dromore's Cathal McCarron was a rock at full back for Tyrone while Martin Murray also caught the eye from his wing half back berth.  Raymond Mulgrew and Colm Cavanagh lorded midfield while corner forward Niall McGinn was easily the best attacker on view and led the Armagh defence a merry dance.  Ronan McCrory also showed some nice touches in attack.  Goals from Dromore wing forward O'Neill and a fisted effort from Errigal centre half forward John Kelly eased Tyrone into a 2-8 to 0-2 lead at half-time and it could have been even worse for Armagh as the Red Hands also missed a number of other good scoring opportunities.  McGinn alone must have kicked four wides during this period and struck the upright twice.

Tyrone were not near as impressive when playing into the elements for the second half.  Red Hand dangerman Niall McGinn was replaced during the break by Coalisland's Philip Toner, while 2004 All-Ireland minor winner Cahal O'Neill also came on for Tyrone in this half.  Armagh played with a lot more determination and used the elements well to salvage some pride after the break.  They were helped by a rather scrappy goal early in the half and, although they never seriously threatened Tyrone's lead, the Orange men did outscore Tyrone 1-6 to 0-3 in those final thirty minutes.

Tyrone still have a number of top quality players to come into this side and the management pair of Liam Donnelly and Martin Coyle certainly have a squad well capable of going all the way in 2007.  Tyrone minors are also reported to be very strong this year so it is looking good on all fronts for Tyrone football.

Do ye think we'll have many fans at this big game on Sat night?
The Dubs are well up for it. Did ye see their fans at the Laois match on TG4?
Ye'd think they won the AI.

Think we should all wear RED as ye cant see the white tops so well.

Pity we don't get some sort of a Mascot guy to get us chanting a few better songs.
I have a HOMER Mask and just need two big Red hands and a Cape

They weren't half as part as the Derry ones, when they beat Tyrone in the first round of the Ulster Championship last year. Bless.

Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere but great news from the BBC site that Brian McGuigan is hoping to be back in Tyrone colours by the end of next month

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/northern_ireland/gaelic_games/6313155.stm

Im sure it will take time and games for him to find full fitness but very encouraging that he feels close to returning. Hopefully he will get back to his best.

Yes McGuigan is back in training, he has participated fully in all our senior teams session so far (there have only been 3). He is well on his way to recovery and that is a great tribute to his own will power - the vast majority of people have absolutely no idea just how bad the injury was and the amount of work Brian did to get to the stage he is at now with the rehabilitation. From speaking to him he is not going to rush back, he is a naturally fit guy who relies more on his footballing than athletic ability anyway so I cant see fitness being an issue. I just hope and pray he gets back to his brilliant best - he deserves it.

Any word on Gortin or Pomroy management appointments yet? It it true that Terry Mc Cann is doing the training for Pomeroy and that Ryan Cunningham is doing it for Gortin. I dont think either of these two are managing these teams?

Ziggysego did a certain Greencastle defender suffer a severe ankle last week at training? If so he be a big loss? What the story?

What is the craic with the goal keeping situation.  Is McConnell injured or being rested.  Why is he not replacing Devine in nets this weekend.  Noew Conway did his ankle did he not

Not sure I do recall mcConnell wearing a thigh support in the Mckenna cup although he commonly wears one. Hm and Devine are dodgy enough anyway in my opinion and I would like to see curran get a run out.

QuoteTyrone football boss Mickey Harte is confident that he has a good deputy on standby if his number one goalkeeper John Devine doesn't recover from injury in time for this Saturday's NFL clash with Dublin.

Devine is a major doubt for the floodlit clash in Croke Park after sustaining a suspected broken collar bone while training at headquarters last night.

"The injury to John looked quite serious and the physio and the doctor have him strapped up well," Harte explained.

"John felt that he heard something crack and it is very unfortunate that something like that should happen to him because he has been dogged by injury this past while.

"If John is unavailable for Saturday, we have a good deputy in Jonathan Curran who has come through from the under 21 ranks."
