Hurling Discussion / Cork hurling coincidence...
July 19, 2010, 11:43:02 AM
In this year's Munster championship, the Cork senior hurlers, the Cork U21 hurlers and the Cork minor hurlers were winning by 3 points with normal time almost up when the opposition got a free near the goal which they scored a goal from, to draw the match in normal time and in each case the opposing team won the replay/in extra time.

GAA Discussion / Goals scored from frees?
July 05, 2010, 11:23:54 AM
Seeing Mikey Sheehy's goal from '78 and Limerick's attempt at a goal from 14 yards with 8 Kerrymen on the line made me think, since Sheey's goal, has a goal from a free ever been scored in the Senior Championship since?
I mean intentional goals as I'm sure the odd long range free has dropped in through the goalie's hands.
I know Barry John Walsh scored what could only be described as a rasper in the Munster Minor final a couple of years ago, but I can't remember any at senior level?

GAA Discussion / Historic semi-final results?
June 01, 2010, 11:54:31 AM
The old GAA.ie website listed all the old semi-final results on one screen but this has now been removed. Anyone know somewhere where this was replicated?
I know you can still use gaa.ie to find the semi-final results one year at a time, but I was hoping to see them all together.

GAA Discussion / St. Gall's teams

Is that the same club in the Int Club Hurling Final as that are in the senior football semi-final?
If so, are there many that are on both teams?

GAA Discussion / A team from 15 different counties
September 03, 2009, 11:01:28 PM
Mightn't necessarily be the best player from each county but more who fits in best...

Connaughton (W'meath)
McMenamin (Tyrone) Lacey (Donegal) O'Kane (Derry)
Moran (Mayo) Canty (Cork) Loughrey (Antrim)
Crawford (Meath) Earley (Kildare)
Galvin (Kerry)  Ryan (Limerick) Glynn (Wicklow)
Kelly (Sligo) Meehan (Galway) B Brogan (Dublin)

I tried to base it as much as possible on this year's form, Connaughton and Meehan being the obvious exceptions.

Kerry in 1975. They'd lost to Cork by 10 points in the previous year's c'ship. They'd lost a host of players to retirement which meant there was 10 U21 players on the team, 9 of whom were in their first c'ship season and yet still managed to beat excellent Cork and Dublin teams on their way to winning the All-Ireland.

Who other counties came out of nowhere to win an All-Ireland?

GAA Discussion / GAA Archive results website?
March 13, 2009, 12:33:03 AM
I remember seeing a new website last year which was starting to build up a results database of all league and c'ship results.
You had the option to select two different counties and see all the results between them, although they only had a few results inputted at the time.
Anyone remember what website it was?

GAA Discussion / Rule about handpassed point?
August 15, 2007, 11:51:59 AM
While an open handed handpass is fine for passing, I thought for a point it had to be with a closed fist. Does anyone know if this is the case?
Masters and Woods have used an open hand to handpass the ball over the bar in their most recent games.

I suppose the main contenders are Páide Ó Sé, John Maughan and John O'Mahony.
