May as well start it up for this year.

4 teams that remained in the division from last year: Armagh, Monaghan, Cork & Meath.
2 teams relegated to div 2: Laois & Kildare
2 teasm promoted to div. 2 : Fermanagh & Wexford.

A decent set of teams. 2 provisional winners, 2 provisional runners up.

Thinking 3 months ahead, I would fancy Cork to gain promotion while Fermanagh to return back down.

Certainly a tough division - much more so than last year. Monaghan really missed out on not getting promotion last year as it will be a lot more difficult this year.

I would expect Cork (if they're not on strike!), Wexford and Monaghan to challenge for promotion. Armagh will possibly be hampered again by Crossmaglen's success (in the early stages), although that remains to be seen.

Monaghan are lucky with home games - especially Cork & Wexford. That should be a big boost to us. Also some of our away games are almost as good as home (Fermanagh, Armagh and Meath).

As for relegation, i can't see Fermanagh being involved in that battle - although they do have some tough away games. There are no whipping boys this year (like Cavan and Roscommon last year who were destined for relegation from a very early stage). To be honest, i wouldn't be surprised if Laois and Kildare passed everyone on the way down again - they're definitely far from safe in this division. It also remains to be seen as to how Meath recover from this year's disastrous championship.

QuoteYou could have a game on the last day where if a team wins they get promoted and if they lose they get relegated. Looking forward to it

That would be the Armagh-Cork game, in Cork!!

I'd say that's harsh on Wexford and Fermanagh, but otherwise spot on. Assuming Cork don't go on strike.

Its hard to argue with the idea that we'll struggle in that division. We still dont have a manager and when we do get one, he'll have a much shorter time to prepare the team. Having said that with the right man and we have talent on the team we could do alright.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

What is the news on the Cork footballers at present? Are they likely to be fully operational when Div 2 starts?

An Laoch

yep, most of the available squad turned out in the McGrath cup game last weekend. Only the hurlers are in doubt

I forecast wins for
Wexford, Monaghan, Laois and Cork this weekend.

Will be heading to Enniskillen next Sunday and certainly hope for a better return than Monaghan got in the championship last summer..

Ill go with an Armagh win, a Monaghan win, a Laois win and thats all I'll say.

Can't see Laois being relegated to be honest. Four home games and away to Armagh, Meath and Wexford. 6 points will be enough to keep a team in the Division. 2 home wins and a couple of scrappy draws will do nicely......................

Laois also have a new found hunger and enthusiasm under their new manager.
The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That's real glory. VinceLombardi

The Real Laoislad

Wexford    v   Armagh
Fearmanagh   v    Monaghan
Cork       v    Meath
Laois         v    Kildare...I think it has ended in a draw two years running so wouldn't be a shock if it was a draw again
