$7.75 for a Guinness in Toronto = 4 quid / 5 Euro

5$ for a big proper pint of the stuff here. And its magic.

£2.30 a pint in my local, £2.00 during all big games (GAA/Soccer).  Living in a border area we now have an influx of donegal wans as they are paying euro 3.80 pint and this is about £3.45 stg a pint.

£3.10 for a pint in the hatfield, a supposedly student bar is a joke!!
can't believe it still gets the crowd of students it does when it puts the arm in like that!

or when the bot did a feed and a pint for a fiver!
Obviously the price of drink is going to go up over time, but I think £3.10 for a pint in a student bar in belfast  is a bit OTT.
why do students still drink there?

Price rise all over this week.

Diageo knocked it up 4% on the keg. About 90 pints to the keg. Usual boozer took this price rise on board and stuck 20p on the pint. :-\

They have done this for the simple reason that it is what they need to cover costs.  The price of everything is rising from delivery to electricity and the number of customers is dropping.  Taking an average price of a pint (£2.70) a 20p increase is only slightly over 7%.  With diageo pocketing 4% of that it doesn't leave a pile for the barman to cover other rising costs/live on.  There will obviously be your regular nightspots in the bigger towns and cities that are making a killing simply due to the fact that they can demand these higher prices because they have got the volume of trade to sustain a slight drop. However, the local publican is very different - I think people get carried away thinking that bars are cleaning up with these price rises.  Let me assure you they are not.

How much do pubs make on bottles?
Bottles can be bought in off licenses for about a £1, less on some occasions, yet many bars (local or not) are charging up to £3
Tells you how much can be made

That is bollix alright as it does not explain the regional variations in prices, Diageo will charge the same price to pubs in Tyrone as they will to pubs in Belfast.  I know there are other considerations (higher rates, rent etc) in belfast but it does not explain why some places are 35% more expensive in the North.

Spirits are the same too, there are 20 half uns in a 70cl bottle which you can pick up for around a tenner in the offy, 20 halfs in a bar would cost you around 40 quid (at £2 a half).  Not falling for this poor bar owner rubbish.

No such thing. Must be a mint made on mixers too as it's over a quid for what seems like a thimble full.

When I worked in pubs, for every 10 crates of coke bottles delivered the 11th was free, so they were getting 24 free bottles of coke per order which at that time was £1.10 a bottle retail.

the last pint i bought in my local was £2.40, which is cheap i know, and i wouldnt mind the publican putting up the price 10p or so to cover price rises, but its the bigger bars that are going well banging up the price and then blaming in on inflation that bugs me!
to me there is no way any bar in the north can justify over £3 a pint.
Most annoying thing is with most of these bars, if you worked in them, they would pay you enough to be able to afford to drink in them!!
