I see the doyenne of OWC, Kate Hoey, took a humiliating hammering from little Bairbre de Brún on the telly last night. In one classic moment, Hoey expressing her opposition to the Long Kesh stadium and support for a Belfast option said the land at Maze should be used to alleviate the social housing problem in Belfast. Surely then the best thing to do would be to build the housing in Belfast instead of a new stadium suggested Bairbre. The wheels on her little Englander bandwagon then fell off completely when none other than George Hook had to correct her and point out that the Chinese might have something to say about her assertion that English is the worlds most spoken language.

The inference that the GAA was co-erced by the Shinners is a disgraceful lie. Withdraw it.

I'll withdraw it when somebody produces some evidence to contradict it. The GAA vetoed the only sensible sites for a stadium in favour of one which has no infrastructure and the wrong capacity from their point of view. Tell me why you think they did this?

The GAA was lobbied by government to come on board on a new stadium as it would not be viable without the.

yet that is the only sport which will consistently draw the crowds necessary.

A myth. The only GAA matches which will require big capacity are actually far too bug for the 35K at the Maze, so it's irrelevant. The fact that the GAA have consistently refused to publish a list of matches that they will use the stadium for.

Having said that I think the choice of vebue is barmy. All European evidence shows that out-of-town stadia doe not create the economic dynamic needed to maximise the return from the project.

Sammy surely you arent serious?  You came up with an allegation that SF pressured the GAA here with no proof whatsoever and wont take it back until someone provides evidence to show it didnt happen???

Crazy logic, you are the one suggesting something did happen, the onus is on you to back up these allegations.

How can you provide "evidence" that something didnt happen other than to point out there is no "evidence" that it did?

I'd say that one dickhead in the audience is a lot less of a problem than the lies about 'sectarian soccer' from Barbara Brown. I think the mask slipped several notches.

Sorry the meeting was called to present the business case to the committee. When they arrived they found out there was no business case just some photos from an agency (paid for by us), so they left. I would have thought it was Poots who was displaying bad manners to say the least.
