Quote from: weareros on August 02, 2026, 08:35:24 PMBiggest danger to women/girls are straight men. The most horrific stories of sexual abuse are usually a father, uncle or family friend. In the past when a young woman got pregnant from the family rape, they were sent to a home or laundary (as if they were the culprits), or they escaped Ireland to get an abortion. Most of the horrific murders of women are also by straight males - often a partner. In particular, there's nothing more dangerous to a woman than a straight man who can't accept rejection.

Trans women on the other hand are a vulnerable minority, reviled by many, with few to turn to - while people make up all kinds of scenarios of them hurting a straight woman on a GAA pitch.

I agree with all you say, and I don't want to see any group persecuted or unfairly treated.. But biological men do not have a right to be in a girls changing room. Why do women's rights not matter?

By the way, how many women who believe they are men demand that they are allowed to play rugby with men, or basketball or athletics etc?

The zero responses are very telling.

As i said, folks are making up hypothetical situations to have a go at trans.

In the real world, you've had straight men training young women who've been groomers (eg Tom Humphries). Where's the womens rights groups saying they are uncomfortable with men training young women?

There's clergy who were closely involved in GAA now on jail for child abuse. Where's the women or indeed men's right groups asking for clergy to be removed. Many GAA clubs have clergy as patrons.

In all other sports (eg Glasgow Celtic, Irish swimming) you've had males and religious orders who've been serial abusers/rapists.

In politics you've had Sinn Fein, Fine Gael, TUV, DUP all have male sex offenders in their ranks, and across the globe wealthy financiers and politicians like Trump and Clinton tied to Epstein. Where's the womens rights groups...

But somehow despite those type of abusers being the majority, trans are the target driven by a right wing movement with the sole purpose of having a go at these vulnerable people and the gallery then all joining in while ignoring the mainstream male/priest/politician and drawing generalisations based on the real danger.

Nonsense. Trans are not being targetted. It is just one activity which is being debated i.e. the desire of men to change in women's changing rooms.

Hard to feel they are not targeted when groups are set up (like the womens group looking for a platform at Feile) specifically targeting them.

And then you have this in the Irish papers today on the pilot from RTE fittest family who raped a young woman in her sleep.

"Testimonials from Brady's father, siblings, a family friend and a coach from Donaghmore/Ashbourne GAA club were handed to the court."

Apologies if i missed a statement from one of these womens groups expressing concern that a GAA coach would give a testimonial to a male rapist.

I don't expect we'll see them down at Doonbeg for Irish Open either objecting to you know who, just had to pay 5 million to a woman he raped.

Anyway I don't mean to come across as vituperative. Respectfully those are my views and i think much of the lack of understanding of trans community comes from Judaeo-Christian binary world view, which is the majority view in Ireland and these poor crathurs are up against it.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on August 03, 2026, 11:59:00 AMI'd say if he wants to go to the ladies toilet he will, dressing up as a woman is just another method of getting in, I've been in plenty of bars where women constantly use the men's as they can't be bothered waiting. And yes, some look like him ;D

You have used he/him pronouns.

That person is Chaz Bono (formerly Chastity Bono child of Cher). If you think that people should only use the bathrooms that corresponds to their biological sex then you want that person in the female bathroom with your daughters and grand daughters.

I think you are steering away from the real issue, and ignoring the fact that women do not feel comfortable dressing or undressing infront of a strange man.

No, this is the core of the issue. Is this a real thing that is actually happening or contrived internet nonsense?

5000 girles were treated by the trans unit at Tavistock medical centre which was closed down. Half were autistic.
No other disorder or condition has a 1-way only approach

Dr David Bell, a former governor at the gender identity NHS trust, said that under the influence of political lobby groups such as Stonewall, clinicians believe that the "only acceptable explanation" for a range of complex issues is that a young person is transgender.

The consultant psychiatrist described his former employer, the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, as a "gateway to puberty blockers", which put children and young people on the path of a lifetime of medical treatment.

I'm asking is this something women are concerned about or middle aged angry men on their behalf?
