Hate this sort of topic. Every year there are a plethora of underachievers. Most lose early every year and completely avoid scrutiny. Those who try and fail at a higher level naturally face greater scrutiny. Basically trying and in most cases trying harder and failing is mocked.
To be fair it's great fun putting the heal in - in such failures. And most enjoy the drama it brings. Many a sports pundit who have made a good living from ridiculing failures.

Bunker - there was ridicule of Mayo in certain quarters for the AI final losses and it would have hurt deeply. But if the past week has shown us anything then Mayo's story now and in the years ahead will be more likely framed as one of resilience than failure.  To keep coming back every year and going at it again will be the thing that will stick with a lot of people.  Lesser counties would not have dealt with it and responded in the way Mayo did.

Dublin have 10 from 40.

This year, the 10 titles available were won by 10 different teams, the 4 league finals, the 4 provincial finals, the Tailteann and Sam. Plenty of teams with something to look back on, even Donegal and Down.

Nearly 50% between 2 counties isn't great, I'd predict Kerry to win maybe 2 of the next 5. Next year is tough to call- can see Kerry coming back with a massive chip on their shoulder after that final and blitzing teams.

Outside of that- Armagh, Donegal and Galway have the players to go deep but probably need a kick up their collective holes in terms of embracing the new rules more and being less pedestrian (at times and to different degrees for each team). From an Armagh perspective we'll need the younger boys to start pushing the thing on again and taking spots in the team but most importantly get a few obvious big names back and firing. 

Tyrone have a serious chance next year depending on who stays on especially McCurry and Donnelly and how the younger lads push on.

Dublins chances likely depend on how many follow Kilkenny out the door and obviously the form and fitness of Con and other big names. 

Roscommon again have the talent to beat anyone and will surely be sick after seeing how Mayo did this year, if they can stop getting nose bleeds outside the province then they can really push on.

Meath full of talent and probably should have beaten Mayo only for a dodgy red card and a collapse after that, didn't really build on a good 2025 though.

Louth and Monaghan ain't going to win the big one but are dogged hoors of teams who could beat anyone on their day particularly if they get playing in Monaghan .

Mayo could go either way, they'll celebrate bloody hard all winter and rightly so, but if they can keep the bulk of that panel together bar the Ozzie and a couple of obvious retirees and keep men fit they'll be hard to beat again, although it is extremely difficult of course to go back to back. They're going to go from plucky underdogs to marked men now
