Cucurella fantastic on a yellow card too.
Brilliant. Poked one away from Mbappe as he went to pull the trigger. Hopefully they can repeat in the final.

That was an epic performance at just the right time. Watched it in a fan park in Spain and the atmosphere was class.

ONeill

Loved that performance by the Spaniards.

Slow and steady bates the flashy hare.

That's what I say to herself.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Me too. Have to hope between the Argies and the Spaniards they get the job done.

Let's hope the Spanish  don't need to

Trump hates Spain. Infantino will be getting a call that either team of his favourite heads of state Javier Meilei or King Charles is the winner. It would be wonderful if the country he wants to ban all trade with, Spain, win. Make no mistake. They don't want this.

Yeah we may hope Argentina do the job. Spain will be screwed in the final some way.

Hopefully they're good enough that it won't matter though.

Huge opportunity for England now with the favourites out.
With the youth setup they have created and the players coming through it's only a matter of time before they win a major tournament anyway. Up front they are by far the best team left.
Defence would be the only worry and pickford is overdue a clanger.
Rice v Messi should be an intriguing watch tonight.

Must be some sort of wind up but I'll bite anyway.
England have the best attack between the 3 remaining teams?  None of them have been that good tbh.
Yep the defence is poor in comparison to Spain.  Argentina defence is just ok
Messi v Rice, lol.  Many have tried and I'm sure that includes much better players than Deckan Rice but granted Messi is getting on a bit.
I think sone people get taken in by the press.  If Spain produce what they produced last night, neither of tonight's teams will get anywhere near them

Have to feel a little for France. Second WC in succession where they've been the best team but won't win it.

They were not the best team, as their elimination from both competitions demonstrates.

Utd won the treble in 99 and weren't the best team in either of the 3 competitions, sport has a funny way of dealing with the best at times

In fairness Kane and Bellingham when they're on it are fantastic. Outside of that England haven't much.
Hopefully Spain have another performance like last night in them for the final.

Can't believe how poor France were, total lack of ideas. Tonight could go either way, Argentina plenty of doggedness in them and obviously Messi capable of magic at any moment. England worryingly lucky though.

They played the best football all the way through til last evening. It was their misfortune to reserve their worst performance for a knockout game. As was said, sport is nuanced and not always the best win out in the end.

Captain Obvious

Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles. Spain will be another example of that should they go on to win the World Cup final.

Look-Up!

Wasn't surprised by the result last night, anyone can play football when they're allowed. Spain were always going to control their fair share of the game but was surprised how little the French offered in return. Looked to individual moments throughout and at no stage tried to get a passing rhythm or any period of sustained control or possession. Not to say they couldn't have got something from the game but it was low percentage stuff.

England remind me of the French a little bit although haven't looked as good at any stage. Struggle in the middle but they have plenty of attacking talent out wide and an embarrassment of riches sitting at home. They do have an old school world class no 9 though if they ever decide to abandon the inverted wing stuff. So they're in with a very decent chance from here if they can keep their luck going.

Both teams will have chances tonight. England struggled badly against Norway in the middle, illness in the squad was the excuse used, but you'd have to wonder on the German's selection sometimes. Rice weak as dishwater, Henderson broken arm, Foden and Palmer sitting at home and he's moving fullbacks around rather than play Mainoo. Was there genuine reasons for England's very poor show v Norway or are there fatal flaws in how he sets up or they are capable of playing. Tonight will be interesting to see how they attempt to impose themselves on the Argentinians. He's under a bit of pressure to be fair. Won't take much for the press or social media to turn on him and the nazi agent b*****d jibes to start.
