Just a shame both  couldn't go out.

That was dull.

Argentina are jammy b@stards. They will probably win it now. A terrible group with Algeria, Jordan and a poor Austria. Struggled against cape Verde and Egypt FFS and now have the weakest team left switzerland. They will be in a SF without actually playing any decent team. The Dutch should have dumped them out in 2022 didn't and they then went on to win 2 penalty shootouts to be champions - can see a similar thing again

With the amount of teams and a number of third places going through the groups were all shadow boxing really with no threat of any big teams going out.  That said, they have got a dead handy run to date.

Would have preferred Colombia to win the game as Argentina/Colombia would have been a better spectacle the Swiss will just sit in and hope to win on penalties.

The Swiss are always a hard watch at these tournaments. I think there was one game they played v France in the Euros where it was a great game but bar that they are the football definition of meh.

One thing for certain: the brilliant disallowed goal for the Egyptians would not have been chalked off for the Argentinians or any of the other favoured nations. I'd worry for VAR if Argentina meet England. It might spontaneously combust unable to make a decision.

Milltown Row2

The Swiss could follow that format to the final hoping to win off penalties from here on in

Four teams from Spain, France, England and Argentina should, be playing in the semi-finals

Can Morocco be the team to upset things? The have played well enough in games, Norway could prove difficult for England but the English will find a way? Belgium, think they played their match v the USA and won't be going much further as Spain won't cough up the ball that much.. If the Swiss snuff out Argentina's game plan they might take it to penalties

Heard alot about how var is helping out the big teams.
Wasn't much use to France against Paraguay the other night.

VAR still gave France the penalty missed by the referee. Not so good catching fouls in penalty area for African nations. But goes all the way up the pitch to claim this was a foul. Then McAllisters shirt pull in penalty box was a foul if that was a foul.

Would you rather  England won it?  :o

While it would be  great to see good  games from now on , that rarely happens.  The main  thing is for England to  go out asap, have them nowhere near a final. After that , who gives a shite. I'd happily watch dross  matches knowing  those  b******s are back home.

QuoteTomorrow I'll wake up just as I did today: with a clear conscience. I played for the national team for 23 years and won three titles; before Cristiano, Portugal hadn't won anything. The European Championship was the most important one. For me, 2016 holds the same significance as a World Cup

For a man who is clearly very mentally strong, he often comes across as weak.

The game he had to leave early doors due to injury!!!
