It's taken me 30 years but I've gone back and watched the "highlight" reels from 1996

It absolutely boggles the mind that Mayo couldn't win either of those games-like shocking beyond belief

Even after McHale got sent off in the replay we went up by 6 points only to let it slip away at the death

Anyways often in the history of time great feats get exaggerated but I have to say, fair play to Colm Coyle for kicking the equalizing point in the drawn game. He was essentially in his own half when he took that shot

Meanwhile after Meath got the go ahead score in the replay, 1 if not 2 Mayo players could have taken a shot-instead passed it to a man who was essentially surrounded who couldn't get a shot off

The fkn "Irish" Independent is at it already....

I think complaining about a newspaper article you can't read is the most Rossfan thing ever.

Think the point is more that the Indo constantly comes up with these pointless "best of" lists and publishes them in the name of journalism. Who the f**k wants to read that shite like?

The paper comes out all year round, the GAA does not provide anything to talk about, so they fill the space.

How many club games were played across the country in the last week? Be too much like work to cover a few of those

I miss it already. Bearna Na Forbacha vs Maigh Cuillin or Turloughmore vs Athenry are not the same.

Meath had the guile. Their panel contained AI winners. They played on the edge inclusive of tax. Tyrone and Mayo got harsh lessons from them that year.
They also had a lot of luck. Colm Coyles point was a punt into the forward line was a hit and hope that got lucky.

Pat Spillane All-Ireland final stat.

Five players across the two teams did not kick the ball at all during the final.

For Mayo, captain Jack Coyne, David McBrien and Bob Tuohy all finished without registering a kick. McBrien still contributed to the scoreboard, punching over a point during the contest and laying on the ball for Darragh Beirne to finish to the net.
Kerry pair Mark O'Shea and Gavin White also went through the game without kicking the ball

Joe O'Connor and Dylan Casey recorded just two kicks apiece, with both registering one kick-pass and one point. Seán O'Brien kicked the ball four times, completing two kick-passes, turning over possession with another and sending a goal chance wide.

That left five Kerry players combining for only five kick-passes across the entire All-Ireland final.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose
