Fergie was comprehensively outplayed in the 4 CL finals he got to, but won 2 of them. Funny old game

Was outplayed in 3 of them. No excuses for the 2 Barcelona finals against the best team of all time, missing 2 key players in 99 and were better than Chelsea in 2008.

During the mid to late 90s it was a ultra competitive league where a few winners got under 80 points including Arsenal under Wenger in season after with 78 points.

Only CL final Fergie really got comprehensively outplayed in was his last one in 2011 against Barcelona and that Barcelona team were arguably the strongest winner since the competition was rebranded to the Champions League.

Armchair analysis, poor league ✅️

Makes ye wonder what a good league looks like 🤷♂️
City are a shadow of themselves and Arsenal are woeful. Peps teams of a few years ago or any of Fergies or Wengers would beat the pick of world football now by a landslide.

Arsenal are woeful. Topped the Champions League table winning every game.
Watch them.

If by ultra competitive you mean who could down the most larger then fair enough

It was overwhelmingly a league of journeymen, Italy was the best league by a mile and the top 3-4 in Spain were carrying a ton of top global talent

1995 to 1999 had 5 different Champions league winners from 5 different countries you don't get much more competitive than that.

The overall watchability of Premier League games was better in the mid to late 90s than now and now I find it fairly overwhelmingly whenever I try to sit through a full current game regardless of teams involved.

Journeymen as you called them, let's say as Bergkamp,Cantona,Klinsmann,David Ginola,,Vieira are the type of players the league could do with now then again flair and maverick type players appears to be a thing of the past

Nah, its about the points it seems to some, if you get 100 points that means the game is better?

All those leagues at the time were great, but, it was mainly just the 2 teams in Spain and three or four teams in Italy that provided the main trophies, in England you had teams like Newcastle Liverpool Blackburn (for a period) Leeds all pushing the better teams in Utd and Arsenal so winning by 75 points was pretty good considering points being taken off by everyone

Super Sundays took some hammering in town! She was pouring me into the car around 6pm on a Sunday night lol

Man City get away with again. Would be 3 match ban if a Burnley or Fulham player.

Quote from: Captain Obvious on March 06, 2026, 12:07:57 PMLooking at Manchester City remaining games I foresee them getting 18 points from those games giving them a season total of 78 points.

If my calculations are correct Arsenal will only need 12 points from their remaining nine games and they have Everton,Burnley,Bournemouth,Newcastle,Fulham to play at home.

Only two questions on Arsenal right now.  How many games to spare will they win this seasons Premier League title by? And how good of a Champion are they really?

Won't have the answer to the 2nd question until next season and the manner on how they defend their title, should they fall away as badly like Liverpool have this season then enough said.

Everton's away record is second only to Arsenal.

Corners won't bother the Everton defence since they got their act together from the Newcastle game in Bramley Dock.

How did that work out for Everton this evening?

Look-Up!

2 games to go, I think, till the showdown in the Etihad. Arsenal at home to Bournemouth and City away to Chelsea.

Hard to see gunners blow it from here. They should still be at least 9 points ahead so a draw will do them very nicely. City need to come out swinging.

If you were an open-top bus owner in North London, then yesterday's results mean it's time to get officially ready.

People have said City are going to win all their games and apply all this pressure on Arsenal, ain't happening so far, Arsenal still have it in their locker to implode, but the games are running out for the 'rest' to catch

Man City just aren't good enough this season. Arsenal to finally do it.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Yep people keep talking about City as if this is the 100 point version of a few years ago, they aren't close to that.

Not sure how many more points Manchester City have to drop in matches they were expected to win before the penny finally drops. 2nd year in a row that the "best League in the world" has had no title race with the winner basically known in March.  Next step for Arsenal is defending the title a whole lot better than Liverpool did this season.
