Cavan have kicked some bad wides and Neilan did not kick any. I think Neilan is doing fine.

Both teams lacking players who are willing to take their men on today. Both have them. You think of Boyle, Keegan, Durcan etc from Mayo a few years back. Opposition on the back foot, space created in very scorable positions. All done at pace.
Unless you have players willing to do this, you won't get close to Dublin. The sprinting to the 45 and everyone looking bouncy and lively without doing anything really ie passing it backwards, rince and repeat will not get you too far.
Both felt shackled, like neither wanted to lose more than win (if that makes any sense).. Bit of group shadow boxing

Dublin players, as usual, continuously taking the opp marker on

Despite the narrative of the commentators of plucky cavan giving it a go, this is absolutely woeful from Cavan. Losing 70 to 80% of own kick outs. Man to man against one of best forward lines in country and wouldnt hit a gate at other end. I was expecting a loss but that's us with the wind and Dublin will win this by 20 points at least. There's something really off in that cavan camp.

Dublin 5-17 Cavan 0-13 a result.

Round 3 Dublin v Mayo to see who finishes 1st or 2nd.

Cavan v Roscommon to see who reaches the Prem quarter final.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Could anyone who thinks that was a footblock explain their understanding of the rule and of what happened?
It was nowhere near a footlocker imo and I'm genuinely amazed at how many people think it was.

Everybody knows it wasn't a foot block. But GAA culture leans towards claiming ignorance and willingly cheat, rather than accept defeat.

Think thats just life rather than GAA.

The foot block is a non-issue. It wasn't a foot block. Mayo got a penalty that was never a penalty but a free out. They won by 2 points. It was the difference in the end in a game where there was never much in it until that decision. It is what it is. Life bees that way sometimes.

Maybe. But Roscommon's penalty was a penalty at all. There was barely contact.

Same as Mayo's.

I though Roscommon's earlier goal chance was possibly a foot block by the keeper.
Referee too far away.
Second goal chance for Roscommon I don't see as a foot block - the ball seemed to be kicked at his foot but he was a reasonable distance away.
Actual penalty was on the soft side but there was a foul - but lots like it not given.
Mayo penalty was a foul but player had already overcarried - ref in decent position and should have seen it.
But then overcarrying is rarely penalised - it would be a different game if players could only take 4 steps!

Roscommon will beat us handily. Injuries accepted, Cavan are in a deplorable state right now after an encouraging springtime. On this basis we'll be out the Division 2 trapdoor next year and back in the Tailteann Cup.
