Still no news on review. What is going on. Players unhappy, fans unhappy. But cb seems happy.

County board meeting tonight. O'Rourkes time could be up apparently.

Who is due in? Like from Kildare we went down the playing legends route and we got excited until it all unravelled.
We are delusional of where we are (and ever were) but in Meath it's nearly worse as there is success well within memory and lads who crave the past.

Like who is there to step in?
them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

Personally I'd go for cathal o'bric. He has ic experience and has won Leinsters at minor and u20 level and minor all ire too. Knows most of these lads and has a great tactical ability particularly during games.  I do nt know nothing about the man personally but he has been getting results and the lads under him speak very highly of him. That's al I know. I know he's contracted to u20s next year too so that could be a problem. Would he leave them ?

Still no decision. We're going to be stuck with him for another year id say. If he goes there won't be much time for the replacement. Clearly the CB have no plan in place. Complete farce.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Decision put off until 27th. This is incompetence personified. CB should stand down at meeting too.

It's unbelievable at this stage. The incompetence is staggering at every level.

I am not a Meath supporter just a general Gaa supporter for over 50years. I think it is sad that Colm O Rourke has to go cap in hand to Clubs to save his job some Premier League Clubs would give a manager longer than 2 years. I know things have not gone well in Meath for a number of years. But to put someone like O Rourke through this in my option is very unfair. Some of the people who will make this decision have never kicked a ball in their lives and are not even Meath people  Armagh and Tyrone have shown that loyalty does pay off. I am not a member of any GAA club or County board so I don't really know how re appointing a manager works.

You're not a member of any Club or County Board, yet you know that some of the people making a decision on the Co manager never kicked a ball in their lives or aren't from Meath.

You are aware that McGeeny also had to get votes of confidence or ratified regularly from the clubs.

That's how County Boards work.

The last Meath team to win an All Ireland (the women) were not managed by someone that was even from Meath. O Rourke is a dinosaur, talked a lot of shit on TV about how football should be played. Spent 1 year figuring out he was talking shit and the 2nd year he showed he hasnt a clue what he is at. I would be delighted to see him stay on personally!

I'm sure many would like to see him stay on outside the county. Within it apart from his friends in CB no one wants him to stay. Apparently the players views were worse than we thought. How can he remain when he has lost the dressing room to that extent , and that's not even taking into consideration the players who left and won't play under him. Surely he can see his position is untenable at this stage or if not surely the cb can see it.  I'm at a loss to figure out why he is still there 12 weeks later. It's baffling

From Irish independent

QuoteColm O'Rourke has stepped down as Meath senior football manager, opting not to put himself forward for the third year of three agreed with the county board in 2022.
O'Rourke was given a three-year term when he replaced Any McEntee, subject to a review after two years.

That review has been ongoing since soon after the team's championship exit to Monaghan in June.

In the meantime two of his selectors, former players Barry Callaghan and Stephen Bray, decided not to go forward again.

O'Rourke has confirmed his departure to the 'Irish Independent' and says his work to make coaching additions was at an advanced stage.

But he was not in a position to declare a new backroom team in time for a Meath Management Committee meeting tomorrow (Monday) night because those who he said were coming on board were still involved with clubs and he did not want to compromise that.

Meath's Management Committee had met and discussed the review at a meeting last week but pushed a conclusion on by a further 11 days to give him more time to put a backroom in place.

They wanted the structure and identity of his new backroom team in time for tomorrow night's meeting. A recommendation was then to be put to the clubs on Tuesday night.

O'Rourke, the two-time All-Ireland winner and well known former 'Sunday Game' analyst and 'Sunday Independent' columnist, decided not to continue on, chiefly because of that deadline. He wanted more time to complete his additions.

His two years in charge brought mixed results with a Tailteann Cup win last year overshadowing underwhelming championship performances.

Meath did retain Division 2 status in both years and there was significant change in personnel during that time.

Among the local candidates sure to be linked with the vacancy will be Kilmacud Crokes' 2023 All-Ireland club winning manager Robbie Brennan, who lives in Dunboyne and has strong Meath connections, and Cathal O Bric, the county's All-Ireland winning minor manager in 2021 who followed that up with a Leinster U-20 success, Meath's first in 23 years, earlier this year.

O'Rourke was keen to bring O Bric in as part of the senior management for 2025 with a view to paving the way for him to take over in future years but O Bric has remained committed to the U-20s.

O'Rourke's former Meath colleague Bernard Flynn and Michéal McDermott, who has managed Clare in the past and guided Wolfe Tones to a Meath title in 2021, sought the position two years ago and may be interested again.

Meath has only once appointed a manager from outside the county when Seamus McEnaney was in charge in 2011 and 2012.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose
