He stood on closer links to the EU. And moving away from Russian Energy to take a more EU centric approach. He talked about anchoring Hungary in both the EU and NATO.

Orban himself called him an EU stooge.
There is no doubt that he has some reservations but it's a huge shift from Orban's position. And one that won't sit well with Trump. Which makes it good news for most people.

Fair enough - and Trump has obviously shown his true colours. However, this new lad's policies might be a big disappointment to the open-borders loons, and there's a bale of straw in that for me.

Depends what you're expecting. An improvement on Orban would do me.

That's a strawman. Nobody is expecting him to be an anarcho syndicalist. The expectation is a cleaner system, an improvement in relations with Brussels and no more being Putins eyes and ears in The EU.

Reform's head of policy flew to Arizona to pay tribute to a man who said the Civil Rights Act was a huge mistake, described immigration as mass demographic reconfiguration, and asked out loud what an Englishman even is if anyone can become one. This is the man who shapes Reform's programme for government.

There's nothing wrong with any of these statements, except maybe the Hart-Cellar Act was a way bigger mistake than the Civil Right Act. Anyway, Charlie Kirk is long dead, and Reform has many non-English candidates. Restore Britain is the real deal, however. Could they yet do a deal, I wonder?

Baile Brigín 2

Which bit of the Civil Rights act would you abolish?

Be specific please

The shift in the political landscape across Europe is definitely noticeable. It will be interesting to see if these parties actually deliver on any of their promises once they gain more influence.

It always swings. The 70's were centre left, the 80's centre right, the 90's centre left again.

And people are still amazed how someone like Donald Trump got in to power...Rupert Lowe ffs, mix utter stupidity with racism and we are where we are. A country that voted for Brexit.

Be interesting to see how the next couple of decades pan out in the social media age
