Always amazes me how those who most declare they're "Christians" never quote Christ.
If he turned up today those cnuts would have him locked up or murdered.....
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

https://www.irishtimes.com/media/2025/09/11/rte-considers-withdrawing-from-eurovision-if-israel-participates/

In its statement, RTE said: "It is RTÉ's position that Ireland will not take part in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest if the participation of Israel goes ahead, and the final decision regarding Ireland's participation will be made once the EBU's decision is made .  "RTÉ feels that Ireland's participation would be unconscionable given the ongoing and appalling loss of lives in Gaza. RTÉ is also deeply concerned by the targeted killing of journalists in Gaza, and the denial of access to international journalists to the territory, and the plight of the remaining hostages."

If Israel goes and we don't. I wonder would anyone miss us? We only sporadically make the final these days. Hopefully our stance is supported by Spain and Slovenia as reported. And a few more get courage from that. Taking on Israel is a minefield. We will suffer in some way in the future given their lobby. Their distain for us is already signposted by Israel closing their embassy.

It will take at least  two or three others to boycott ,  otherwise Ireland will become  like the pariah  state. As you say , Israeli lobby is  strong , so if Ireland  are the only  one boycotting ,  the country will really  suffer given  those b@stards' influence

I think the fact the EBU (led by an Irishman) are even having a conversation, with a deadline, about Israeli participation leads me to suspect this is part of a coordinated strike.

Oddly I think the Israelis jiggering the public vote last year is the bigger problem for them.

I fairly say we bigger dislike for them than us. So no love lost!

Captain Scarlet

There are 5 EBU members who are big funders France, Spain, Italy, UK and Germany.
If any of them make noise then there's big trouble. Spain would be most likely, then France.

Fair play.

But about 70 years too late.

Let's hope they, and a lot  more, follow through with it.

The  Euro  qualifying should be next. Too late for  the world cup unfortunately .

Phil Coulter (who wrote UK 1967 winner Puppet on a String) calling for UK to withdraw. That said: I seem to recall Phil himself breaking the apartheid ban back in the day. Welcome intervention all the same.

The Dutch public broadcaster, AVROTROS, has confirmed the Netherlands will join Slovenia, Iceland, Spain and Ireland in boycotting next year's Eurovision Song Contest if Israel is involved.
