Tottenham star Dimitar Berbatov has confirmed that joining Manchester United is his 'dream'.

Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on landing the Bulgarian striker and has been chasing him for most of the summer, but as yet no deal has been agreed between the two clubs.

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos left Berbatov on the bench for their opening day defeat at Middlesbrough, and there was a distinctly mixed reaction from the travelling support when Ramos brought him on.

Now Berbatov has admitted that moving to Old Trafford would be a 'dream' move for him.

"I'm now in Tottenham but no one can disagree with me wanting to follow my dream," said Berbatov - who insisted he was not annoyed at being left out of Spurs' starting line-up at the weekend.

"I'm not angry about the decision of Juande Ramos to name me as a substitute. I'm not crying.

"I only show my emotions to my close friends and family.

"But if I was laughing when I was on the bench, people would say I was an idiot.

"I noticed that Eric Cantona never smiled but I don't know if anyone ever asked him why he didn't look happier."

Berba's agent Emil Dantchev admitted he was hopeful a deal could be struck this week.

"We have two weeks until the end of the transfer window. I think this will be the most important week," he said.

Looked at bit light up front yesterday....so an extra striker will do no harm
Rooney doesnt look up to speed yet, maybe still running the Marlboro Lights out of himself
Campbell is a decent prospect, but will only be a back up player

If Rooney was the great player everybody says he is he would have taken that game yesterday by the scruff of the neck.

Ronaldo and Tevez are men who have pulled those games out of the fire for United late in games.

Rooney has been on a downward sprial since the European Championships in Portugal. I think he has really failed to make that early potential into reality. Very disappointing.

Surprising move. Always a good option to pick up a pacy striker but he's been riddled with injury.
Not often we do business with the gooners. Can't think of any off hand.
Evans looking decent tonight for NI and with O'Shea also an option we can do ok without Silvestre and Pique.

£55,000 a week that couldn't really be justified anymore. We'll put it towards the brooding Bulgarian.

I was at anfailed for his debut, himself and carragher had great games

I wish Silvestre all the best and hope it works out for him.  He was a model professional who never moaned and got on with the job.  Thanks for all you hard work!

Glad Silvestre is gone and cannot believe Wenger bought him. The lad is a liability. Imagine himself and Senderos in the same back 4!

Some lads being harsh on Rooney here. He's always poor for a few games after coming back from injury so with his recent illness I think folk should cut him a bit of slack. United bringing on the likes of Possebon the last day shows that the squad is fairly stretched at the minute. Striker needed asap. Can't help thinking its the bloody Arshavin thing thats holding it all up. Spurs fans will not go so mad at Berba leaving if Arshavin (or Villa) was on his way in.
