If an amateur GAA player, who does it for free, stops bothering, he will lose his place on the panel.
If a professional soccer player, who is getting paid to do the job, stops bothering, he still gets paid.

Crazy.

Few follow ups:

Martinez - has never been short of effort and bravery playing for United. Has had terrible run of injuries over his time at United. A world cup winner and starter for Argentina - pretty sure a new contract will come for him that is fitting for him. He said what he said because he wants to win. I have no issue with people telling the truth. He also blamed himself and the players. It may not be the place in this capitalist world for an employee to question management unfortunately.

Rashford wasn't always toxic in fairness.

Bruno has only played in his preferred position all season except for Tuesday when he played off the right. He was played out of his position last season by Amorim and played reasonably well. He's just out of form or carrying an injury and if it is the latter he shouldn't be playing international games.

United is a shambolically run club.

Quote from: Armagh18 on October 14, 2026, 08:53:35 AMShould have kept Rangnick at the time and gave him control. Can't see the owners going for someone like Conte as he'd take no shit from the board whereas Carrick is happy enough to keep his head down.

I really don't know  who would want it. Most clubs have a  good core of players to start from , a  GK, a couple of centre backs , centre mf, a striker, so a new manager has something to work  with.  Who  is in that core at United? Fernandes, maybe. Mbeumo possibly. The rest  are poor to average.

I never thought Carrick was the answer but if he goes , the new man will have the same  problem .  4 or 5 managers  have came and  went now, and still you have the likes of Shaw, Maguire, Dalot, Rashford there stinking the  place out , and still no sign of  a core

Its simply a lot easier to change the manager and buy time for the powers that be, than it is to dislodge and replace a bunch of players with very high paying contracts.

The fact is that outside of Arteta (who was being seriously questioned by a lot of Arsenal fans not too long ago), Emery and Farke (who is only in the job three years and was close to the boot late last year before he found a new formation that worked), every other manager in the Premier League has been in the job only two years or less.

Its more pronounced because they're an elite club, but United are probably not that different from most with the turnover. It's simply the nature of the game, unless you get lucky and recruit a generational genius like Ferguson or Pep or Wenger or Klopp.

United conceded in  the first minute last week.

They held out for  a  bit longer against Perry Como FC this week... the second  minute.

And another manager change isn't going to make much difference. Left with players who aren't good enough or care from top to bottom the club is in some mess.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Both Manchester clubs be relegated at this rate!

It's a buck like David Moyes you would want in to steady the ship

Ethan Tremblay

Once questions are asked about his position, it's only a matter of time unfortunately.

Keane called it last year, the real test is when he got a transfer window and more than a game a week to contend with.
I tend to think of myself as a one man wolfpack...

Conte? In and light a fire under every players arse for a start

Cunny Funt

The worst ever European performance and result for Man United.

Carrick won't be surviving the chop now and not all on him with those in charge of transfers in the summer choosing to not sign a left back and striker.

The players response this season has been shameful, 7th game without a win now and getting outrun in every game.

Are players waiting for another interim to spark them into life and give a general effort again

Course not but manager is always the fall guy no matter what.
