Guardiola had a much easier job to do.

He inherited a team that in 15/16 had scored 71 league goals compared to Van Gaal's 49. Yes, 49 goals in 38 games.
Since then he has spent close to £280 million on keepers and defenders to plug the leaks at the back.

Cutting lose players with septic attitudes like Nasri and Yaya Toure was also low hanging fruit for Pep.

You do realise that Mourinho's 2016/17 side scored an amazing 54 goals in 38 games and finished one place lower in the table? And that was with Leicester disintegrating from the previous season.
Yeah and 58 goals already this season and on target to break 70. You can't simply claim that Jose is unilaterally ploughing the club into the ground.

There are problems, but there have been improvements also.

Yaya was supposed to be the main man when Pep initially took over. Pep didn't pander to him it seems and somehow Yaya had a change of heart and wanted to stay whether he got a birthday cake or not.

Pep doesn't throw his players under the bus when mistakes are made, Jose could do well to learn that.

WRT managers, big Sam will be available in the summer hopefully and he can bring his all action style to the theatre of dreams.

Yaya was the main man a few years previously to that, by the time Pep arrived he was a good bit past his peak. The reason he's still there is pretty clearly because no one else is willing to pay his current wages (you can assume Man City have tried to shop him on close to a free, so transfer fees is no real issue) so he's decided to bench warm and collect his money before leaving for Turkey or the US or China.

Yes, but City had easier problems to fix. Around February that season they were right up with Leicester but then their players packed it in. As was typical of the Mancini and Pellegrini era where there was often questionable commitment from certain players.

It's nice to be able to spend 300 million to sort out a keeper and defence when you have Ageuro, Silva and De Bruyne doing their job at the other end.

Mourinho took over a team with Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay leading the attack. Big difference.

The really big difference is between the owners.
Man City's qataris take a long view. they waited for years to get Guardiola.
The Glazers are more interested in how many shirts they sell in Asia.
A lot of Man Utd purchases during the van Gaal reign were last minute.
Man City is more zen

Certainly around the LVG era when Utd just seemed to sign anything and anyone who was available. And a lot of them turned out to be very poor quality. DiMaria, Falcao, Darmian, Depay, Scherderlin, Schweinsteiger. Couple of 100 million spunked on that alone.

Well perhaps. But I think it has been proved at lots of clubs that if you enter the market and purchase lots of players in one or two windows, the players can't be integrated with any success. 2-3 players in any window is plenty. Strengthen positions rather than buy for the sake of it. Jose guilty at times too.

Strange choice of words as I'm pretty sure no one said that. What he is ploughing into the ground is the traditions and history of the club through his teams negativity and his own conduct which is not acceptable in any walk of life.

The man should never have been allowed to get the job. It was a disgrace then, it's a disgrace now and it will continue to be so. That was almost unwatchable the other night against a bad team. And it wasn't a one off or anything like it.

Van Gaal's signings mostly failed because of Van Gaal. Mourinho's signings are mostly failing because of Mourinho. A better success rate this season against mid and lower table teams at home is all that has improved. Anone who thinks United are going to win a league or a CL with this manager is sadly deluded.

I see Jose is having a Rafa facts episode!!

Captain Obvious

Ed Woodward did the transfer business and how many of the last number of signings were the managers choices or the choice of business man to sell jerseys?

Another absolute disgrace. How anyone who call themselves a United supporter can accept this bullshit is beyond me. MOURINHO OUT.
