At the end of the day the CL is cup competition occasionally you'll get inferior teams winning it Liverpool 05 & Greece (winning the euros) are prime examples. United on the other hand showed there consistent brilliance by reaching 3 finals in 4 years & as i said already there chances of winning those finals would have been better if they didn't play the best club ever.

So you agree Liverpool showed "there consistent brilliance" in reaching 2 out of 3 finals, or was that luck?
Are you watching those 70s,80s Liverpool VCR tapes again? yes the showed there brilliance back then.

Well lets compare the consistent brilliance.

Liverpool
2005 CL winners, PL 5th a full 37 points behind the leaders
2007 CL runners up, PL  3rd a full 21 points behind the leaders

Man United
2008 CL winners, PL winners
2009 CL runners up, PL winners
2011 CL runners up, PL winners

Now Pool were consistent those years in the CL i'll give you that but brilliance.. especially when you compare to United's?

Ross you stated that Utd were going through transition etc in 04,05 & 06 so were never going to trouble "the best in Europe", yet the finalists in 2004, 2005 and 2006 included Liverpool, Arsenal and Porto & Monaco. Hardly Europes best, so is there a chance you are talking bollix, again?

Indeed they were going through transition, Porto under Mourinho that year were probably the best even though they did get lucky beating United, That was the tale end of a fine Arsenal side although they perhaps punched above their weight like Monaco & Liverpool.

Also the standard is higher with the top two in Spain now For example IMO if the United side of 08,09,11 had the chance to play 04Porto,05AC Milan,07Barca teams in the final instead of the recent Barca side they would have more than 3 European cups to there name now.

According to Twitter rumours the papers tomorrow will be reporting that he was dropped for going out with the missus over Xmas.

If it isn't  true then i can imagine legal action for slurring Rooneys good name.............

I won't hold my breath though.

Maybe another transfer request brewing.

Everymanaman, as said before, you must live a life of impeccably high standards, if you genuinely believe that Fergie's recent seasons have not been good enough.

The most bizarre thing of all is that the only reason the likes of you can have such expectations from United is Alex Ferguson. Before he arrived, being in touching distance of top spot at Christmas was a pipe dream.

Au contraire- I have been attending matches at Old Trafford since the late seventies. Every dog has its day and no-one benefits from keeping harping back to better days gone by (as many scousers continue to allude to their 5 European cups). Let's live in the present for once and the fact is that Ferguson's methods and stubborn attitude are as outdated as the betamax video players which were the rage when he started out in management.
