Some dramatic evening in Tuam.
We seemed to be heading for an awful batin midway through the the 1st half, went 8 I think behind.
Recovered well, shoulda coulda won in normal time , stuttered a bit in ET but came good in the end.
Got goals when needed one helped by Kilclines handball stroke on the end line.
We had a narrow escape with an off the line clearance near the end.
We dug it out, a great spirited bunch of lads.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Very enjoyable game of football.
Leaving Tuam Stadium after the first round Galway-Roscommon game 6 weeks ago I wouldn't have given them much of a chance of going on to win it out from what I witnessed that night. They have fairly turned things around. Deserved the win tonight.

I tip my hat to both Roscommon and Mayo a truly epic final where both gave their all a great advert for Connacht underage football.

A decider with so many plot twists the final one with Ruairi Kicline sealing the win with a goal a year on when he was denied the winner when the umpires made a debatable call on a square ball.

U17 Semi final tonight at 6.30pm Roscommon awaiting the winner in the final

TG4 covering the match

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Half time in the minor semi final. Sligo 0-3 Galway 0-6. Two nervy looking teams with as many wides and shots dropping short than scores.

Getting to the final is the key thing to make the All Ireland series but Galway are going to have to improve beyond recognition to have any chance in the Connacht final. They were poor for long spells and got absolutely murdered on both their own and opposition kickouts for most of the game.

One thing that sticks out with that Galway team is work rate, look decent defensively and some good fielders and forwards with pace.  Roscommon with a long lay off could be rusty so would expect a competitive final.

Ulster opposition then up next for both and Tyrone,Derry I would expect to come through, both are strong and will be hard beaten by the Connnacht reps.

Galway the better team on the ball but really struggled on kickouts which is odd as they seem a big enough side for this age group. Found the tactic of always looking for one forward during that first half bizare; He coughed up so much possession, Healy is the lad they want to get more on the ball as he was outstanding.

It was the opposite when they met in Tuam which was unusual for this Sligo team who are decent in that area.

I thought it was a really fast paced, intense battle. Obviously as a Sligo man I'm gutted for our lads - we undeniably had the chances to win and will rue them for a while. Clearly Galway also had chances they missed and both teams defended pretty well.

Disappointing from a Sligo perspective to not advance but some players with potential and some of those are tall/strong which is something we badly need. We always seem to be smaller than our Connacht rivals every time we play and demographics can only explain some of that. Important we continue developing these players so they become good u20's with a chance at making senior.

U20 semi v Kerry said to be in that stronghold of football,  Thurles, at 7.30 tomorrow week 13th May.

Probably a record low attendance at a premier AI semi final in that case.

Thomas wanted it changed. There is a rule that management cannot play U20 players within 60 hrs of a senior game, but did not know a fixed All-Ireland semifinal could be changed to accommodate.

Roscommon v Galway U17 Connacht final in Tuam Stadium at 7pm tonight.

Half-time Galway 0-5 Roscommon 2-8

Great fight back by Galway but Rossies hang on to retain the Connacht title. Galway 1-17 Roscommon 3-12

Some tidy players on display here. Some of them look like they wouldn't be far off U20 level

Only at the start of the second half here but this number 7 for Roscommon is some player
