None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

David's biggest battle might be in 2 weeks.

Jimmy will have a plan.

If Clifford can pull Kerry over the line against this Donegal side, then he's in the running for one of the best ever.

I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Long live GOD. Sean cavanagh a great footballer but a brat not liked in Tyrone.

David Clifford has to be the best Gaelic Footballer of all time, he can do anything he wants and you can't stop him. In truth you only stop him if he has a poor game by his own standards, if he's firing on all cylinders then you just have to suck it up and hope he kicks a few wides. In truth the only way to limit his influence on a game is stop the supply going into him and reduce his play other than that he impacts the game significantly.
He's tall, powerful and a machine. There have been so many great Gaelic footballers over the years and were a pleasure to watch but this man is above them all...

I'm honestly not sure if this is satire or not.

There are people out there with a serious case of recency bias!

100%. Matt Connor remains the best I've seen, a pity he never got to play out a full career. In time Clifford may well surpass him.

thewobbler

Clifford is the best player I've ever seen, the perfect forward.

He would seem to have a better big game to quiet game ratio than any inside forward I can remember. His quiet games tend to involve 5 points.

Those who might laud Canavan, Joyce, Connolly, O'Neill, Cooper, McDonnell, Coulter, Linden, McManus, O'Callaghan, Walsh as being better, I would suggest have their own biases to deal with.

For me David Clifford and Stephen O'Neill are more comparable as players.

Truthsayer

Am not really into these greatest ever debates... so many players have been a joy to watch, my favourite Frank McGuigan of Tyrone.. a kind of George Best of Gaelic football back then.
Clifford is a special talent. Unreal. And comes across as such a decent lad. Interviewer from TG4 seemed to be trying draw him out after club final against Stewartstown which ended quite tempestuous. He wouldn't get drawn in at all and was very magnanimous and sporting in his comments. Stewartstown lad Manies Devlin who had a great game tho got a double yellow late on, said Clifford sought him out after to congratulate him on his performance and came across as such a sound lad. Good luck to him.

I really like SO'N. And would be up there with the top tier imo, but not quite Clifford level. Clifford had the same raw talent and ability to take outrageous points that SON had. But also has more athleticism to his game than SON. Stephen more hamstring with injuries as well which prob didn't help.

I'd agree here.  The greatest debate will always be subjective.  Clifford's presence allows others around him that extra little bit, whether time,  space, less attention or that split second distraction, so if Donegal can find a way to curb him, and not sacrifice too much to allow gaps elsewhere, then this will have a major bearing.
Personally I think the conditions will be the biggest influence.  Wet and greasy,  or a swirling wind will affect Kerry's kicking game, but nice conditions gives them a great chance. Psychology will be key to closing the game out.  Yesterday Meath fell into a perfect storm.  When things are going your way, most things work out, or look to be working out.  Hence Donegal looking so ruthless and efficient, while Meath looked rudderless,  the wedge grew bigger minute by minute as the second half went on.
It's a fascinating prospect.  If whichever team's tactics are working out, huge pressure mounts on the other team.  Their tactics look inept or non-existent,  or else they are too bound up to be able to adjust.  The same things are said re fitness.  Inevitably the team that loses weren't fit enough, even though they were drained of belief or confidence because they felt the game drifting away.  This game could go down to the last 3 minutes, and it could be one of the great finales.  I'd find it hard to imagine one or other crushing the other and winning comfortably.   So after all that, a slight vote to Donegal, but if Clifford delivers,  then absolutely hats off to the man.
