As bad as Dungiven were I think Joe Dillon deserves a mention too.

Just mentioning players who haven't had run with Derry seniors that I know of.

Id add Matthew Diamond Bellaghy to that list thought his influence at midfield played a big part in their win. Only 18 too i believe

Derry Journal have it that Mark McGrogan done his cruciate, damn good back and can pick up scores. Don't know if Newbridge have the depth to replace him and Callum too handy

I think Bellaghy vs Glen has potential to be a cracker. Both teams I thought looked a bit shaky in defence but really impressive going forward.

When you see the brand of football played by the best teams over the weekend sideways attacking if definitely gone.
Magherafelt, Slaughtneil, Glenullin(2nd half) Bellaghy, Glen, Steelstown all breaking out in big numbers and kicking it early if its on. No waiting or giving teams chance to get set up.

Bellaghy getting 5 men inside opposition 20yard line early, Magherafelt hunting goals initially if quick break happens if not 2 points is the next thought.
Steelstown moving forward at serious pace and being far more direct.
Used to be it would have been from nearly 20 yard line before teams got shot off now they're having go from distance.

I think it was Damon Gallagher but open to be corrected kicked 2 pointer from about 50 yards from play, that changes everything in opposition defence if have player that can do that.

I think Lavey and the Bridge will be a good one too. Both teams were missing important players, so you'd imagine they'll have a couple more back. I assume Sean Young isn't too far away, and Louis Regan should be back as well.

There's been a lot of talk about Lavey pushing on with the Downeys and Sargent now established in the senior setup, so this game should tell us a fair bit about where they are.

I'd be interested to know how everyone's predictions stood up. The Loup and Dungiven results let me down, but fair play to Glenullin and Bellaghy.

I did argue on this forum that Magherafelt's younger players were better than what Slaughtneil have brought through, and I thought that showed. Rory Small, James Murray and Conall Higgins were all impressive. Their bench looks well ahead of Slaughtneil's too, although Ó Mianáin is obviously a huge loss for them.

Older players, Chrissy, Sammy and Patsy just not at the level needed for a game like this. Sad to see greats servants like this but time waits for no man.

I'd say Kilrea and Faughanvale are fairly impressed with being Scheduled for a Thursday.

You would have thought logically Ballinderry vs Screen would be the next match played but its on Friday.
A triple header on Sunday.
