Is it a coincidence that ever since the county board wrote the letter distancing themselves from the GPA that things have
taken a turn for the worse, be it discipline, lack lustre performances etc. It seemed at the time to rattle a lot of cages.
We were flying up to that point, was it 7 wins out of 7 games at that stage, counting the McKenna cup?
I think it may go beyond Hunger lads, if mickey can't bridge the obvious gap that exists between the Players and the county board,
I'm afraid we could be in for a short stint in the Championship  :-\

Just wondered what the general opinion in Tyrone, is of Richard Hetherington of D' more???

Good underage prospect?

realredhandfan

I believe he is captain this year, very consistent performer, playmaker and scorer.  Surely he missed the boat for the county.

Fuzzman

Do you really think the Players or even Mickey give a damn about the county board?
Do you really think this affects there performance on the pitch.

They have their own hunger and desire and I think they've just took their pedal of the Gas since 2005 for one reason and another but the question is when they put the pedal to the metal will it all come together smoothly as they hope.
They know that every defeat will be still tarnished with
"Och aye they'll never perform completely without Peter" Even though they did for most of 2005.

Surprising the No of media correspondents who have tipped them for at least Ulster if not AI semi at least.
Hopefully our list will read

Fermanagh
Donegal
Derry
Dublin
Mayo
Kerry

Canavan's article in the Mirror today was interesting. He tends not too say too much about Tyrone but any bit he does is usually telling. Today he claimed that although Tyrone were still capable of reclaiming Sam, the size of the panel will cause a hindrance not only within the camp but create bother with the club v county argument.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Pull the thong outta your ass Fuzz, it was a simple observation, nothing more.
Maybe you can come up with something better than "for one reason or another"
There was Cavanagh coming out with his statement to the letter , the locking the gates on them in Omagh
for the county trials, the supposed mis-handling of Brian McGuigan's situation, need i go on, all around the same time frame.
Quite the coincidence that we have taken a slippery slide since, especially from the older and more experienced heads on the panel.
So to say that the likes of the above would have no adverse effects on players maybe slightly wide of the mark, imo of course!

Thanks T.O. Not sure how long that's beat up there but yanked it out now.

Yes it does seem a coincdence but I think nothing more than that.
Cavanagh and players like him are now high profile and have to reply to the media when asked.

Cant see players purposely deciding to not try harder or no longer fight for their places because of what is going on at board level.

Look at McGuigan himself. He's the one that has suffered with all this but he cant wait to get back into the team.
I think come June's semifinal/Qualifier you will see a determined hungry Tyrone again, especially if Dooher and Mickey have any influence at all.

Players like Mugsy, Cavlan and even Block and Ricey know they cant keep up that tempo all year round but hopefully when they try to turn it on in summer days that it will come back.

Anybody wanna try to name a team if it was this week? Your selection and not what you think Mickey will pick.

What bout Phillip Jordan??

Mr. Nakata

Fair point Carmen. I think Justy's done enough to earn his starting place. Jordan has yet to feature this year. Whenever, his fitness is championship standard, I think he'll be in there. Possibly mid summer. With regards to Cavlan over Mulgrew, who do you think brings more to the party ?. Cavlan for me. That bit of guile and experience over a young pretender, who has yet to convince. My forward line is sparce of players to weigh in with 4 or 5 points, but you have to rely on your Mellons and McGinleys to contribute.

I would LIKE to see

Curran - Wont come out blind like Packie does to punch
Ricey - Great tight marking defender who rarely gives away frees and falls to his knees to pay homage the odd time
McMahon - THink this is best position though recent stories concern me.
McCaul - Havent saw too much of him but he looks a big strong lad that can tackle well
Harte - Same old Davy but GOd he is so slow.
Block - Needs to get back to what he was but great reader of the game
Jordan - As above and can attack better than some HFs
Sean - Best player in squad now but would be nice to see the odd simple one two pass occassionally
Hub  - Needs to wise up and keep the head. Maybe a liability now as Refs know what he can do
Dooher - Hoover with a new bag installed. Was immense last Sat and eat your words those who think he's a spent force.
Cavlan - Can be best forward we have but no doubt will get dogs abuse all season if he plays or is fit to play
Mulgrew - Intelligent and accurate footballer (Came on since last year)
Mugsy - Free taker and goal taker but COULD be so much more if head is right and near Hill 16
Colm Cav - New target man and score taker and think he has a big future
McGinley - Roaming as 3rd Midfielder and covering Sean

Thats quite a big strong team all thru with lots of intelligent players throughout.

Leaving
Dermot Carlin - Attacks too much and not a great man marker
Mickey Magee- Good CB to come in if someone gets a yellow card or a roasting
Peter Donnelly - HHHHmmm NO THANKS
Colin Holmes - Always injured but again can come in almost any central positions. How would he fair Up front?
Justin McMahon - Yeah great defender could get No7
Gourley - Good defender but always injured
Paul Quinn - Good player for club but never saw him for Tyrone

Kelvin Hughes - Not convinced yet
Mellon - Unlucky to miss out and can play MF or in the forward line

SON - Will get it back but again always injured
Niall Gormley - Looked very good in League and could get a CF slot
McCullagh - Similar to above
Rouse - Dont know enuf but heard was good in McKenna cup
McCarrons - Havent saw them but sound very accurate.

A few more but fingers getting sore now.

Brian McGuigan- Can we wait to see? Pressure is on him

Thats not a bad team Mr Nakata. Though would definately have jordan ahead of justy mcmahon. Justy at this stage looks a bit loose for championship football. Also phily jordan has been one of Tyrone's most important players over the last few years taking the ball out of defence time and time again. He also appears to be injury free for the 1st time in a few years. Would prob pick mellon for his strength and tackling back. Hope if Cavlan is fit he gets the nod. Mulgrew has yet to stamp his authority on a game at the top level and Cavlan knows how to deliver the ball to the full forwards. Mulligan must play inside especially now O'Neill is out.

Carmen Stateside

What about Cavlan at Full Forward?? Good fielder and can score of either foot at his ease! he may be no greyhound ( sorry had to get it in!) but he can make up for that with his quick thinking.

ONeill

Colm Cavanagh at FF would be an exciting prospect, especially if Owens is out.
