I'd love to see Padraig O'Neill full-forward. Serious operator there at times earlier in his career. For example he scored 0-5 from play in a qualifier in Derry in 06 and took Dublin U21s apart around that time as well. I think he offers similar physical attributes to O'Connor, but is able to kick scores. I know Geezer prefers to use his physical strength out the field but I think he'd be an improvement over O'Connor.
But if I had to bet I'd say McGeeney will stick with O'Connor. And my problem with that is the serious risk that we end up kicking aimless ball to him, someone like O'Carroll breaks/wins it, and we get severely punished on the counter-attack. In fairness to the man he's a great ball winner but an 'elite' forward should be able to score.

I would've thought that O'Connor/Johnson would work well together but aside from the Kerry? game it hasn't clicked with the two of them?

Donnellys Hollow

I hope he goes with a two man full forward line of Doyle and Smith but I think he will start O'Connor on the edge of the square. If Hurley had kept the head down he could have been an option there. He did well against Tyrone rotating between midfield and the full forward line. He has more football in him than O'Connor and he's more ready for this level than Brophy but it would be a surprise to see him involved after his indiscipline.

There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

Johnston is just not playing well recently. I'd like to see Smith involved too but judging by how little game time he's got he must not be doing his stuff in training. Shame because he offers a great goal threat. In an ideal world my full-forward line would be Doyle-O'Neill-Smith.

Captain Scarlet

In an ideal world I'd like to know why Alan Smith is being ignored all year. He was the best forward in the county last year.
Kildare tend to think long ball means aimless high ball dropping from the clouds and O'Connor isn't good enough for O'Carroll.
Hurley was not allowed play for the club last night so it looks like he is deffo in the match day squad and reckon he could start on the edge of the square.
Lots of talk of KE, what about the Dubs? Who will get the nod?
them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

Donnellys Hollow

Smith injured his knee in the Leinster Club Championship and was only getting back to fitness towards the end of the league. It was very surprising that he did not play at all against Offaly. He was in very good form in the first round of the County Championship by all accounts.

Hurley has the potential to offer something a bit different for Kildare. He only played 40 minutes or so for the Juniors last week so maybe he is under consideration for a start.

Captain Scarlet

I know we had Keith Cribbin playing the full game last night and Cathal McNally was allowed play second half so they may not be in contention but Hurley was unavailable. Could be a bolter and something different in FF.

Hurley has limitless potential but not at FF. This business of playing midfielders on the edge of the square doesn't work.

Dinny Breen

Would Hurley and Flynn the elder work at midfield?  I do like the thoughts of Flynn the younger and Cribben at half-forward given the space Dublin leave behind.

Better than Cormac Reilly... :-X

Not sure we've much history with him, the Monaghan dust-up and Cork's waltz last year are all I can think off. You've had mixed luck with him so probably not a bad appointment..

Uncomfortable with a Cavan/Dublin man reffing this. Don't think he did us any favours against Cork last year (not that it affected the outcome).

You do know that the lies spun by James Horan last year were just that - lies, yeah? He's never reffed a Dublin challenge game or an in house a v b game.

Sure he's more likely to favour your 'man' Seanie.

We all must be forgetting Alam Smiths point/wide against Down in semi a few years ago so.

Hurley has played loads of football in the forwards. I wouldn't pigeon hole him as only a midfielder just yet.
