Creggan done a lot of things right today. Thought they dealt with Tomas really well and also the threat of Jinny coming forward. Thought they were a bit soft centred in their defence though. Too many times Cargin ran right through the middle and should have maybe even had another couple of goals. Don't think Creggan even tried a 2 pointer from play and dropped two frees short which was poor. Also failed to hit the target three times from penalties with two over the bar and one hit the post. Think they had a chance there today but obviously Cargin have a granite belief in themselves and in the end got the win. Some interesting match ups in the final now.

Armagh brought in Junior B this year but clubs voted that it only be for seconds teams. Sort of defeated the purpose, a few clubs got slaughtered in the Junior championship proper while much stronger teams competed in the Junior B.

When all the players on the pitch have given up their times sacrificing family time, numerous hours as amateurs you would believe the officials put in charge of this game would give the same professionalism, blantant ignoring of the rules, body checks commented on the stream, throwing the ball away not giving to the opponent went unchecked and the pile ons what referee allowed this to continually happen, of course when unchecked at the start gave the go ahead that this was ok to continue as no punishment would happen
This is an ongoing problem last couple of years making Antrim football a laughing stock and now streamed for all to see
No wonder highly talented footballers will not put on the county jersey as the county's officials do nothing to support them on the club scene , stands to reason they will not give up more of their valuable time

If we could get maybe a 12 team Junior championship for example. Seeded to avoid a "group of death". Round robin top teams into semis and bottom four into Junior B semi finals

Grt game yesterday. Unfortunately the rules with no replays would sicken u. Not a fan and haven't been a fan of penalties to decide games. I thought we were marginally the batter team over game. In a funny way the ref contributed to the spectacle of the game, but there is no getting away from the fact he literally does not know or decided not to apply the rules. WTF is the point of that. Cargin got a free to equalise the game for a 5om infringement on the tap and go, quite rightly. However there were 3 other occasions that I counted and one in particular I can recall he didn't apply the rule for us that would have been a tap over score. The amount of off the ball incidents that he ignored that were simply black cards or yellows is beyond acceptable. And as he is a hurling ref pretending to be a football ref it explains the amount of mauls that occurred with multiple fouls in each, where he eventually discriminated against one team by being selective on what foul he would award rather then blow the first legitimate foul. We all deserve better. Finally we had a stone wall free 30 yrds in front of the gls when we were a point up in the final few minutes, to make it a two point victory not awarded, I believe it was referenced in the commentary, just not on nor acceptable.

Refereeing on Friday was very poor, yesterday was a next level though and another shambles down in Portglenone for the intermediate.

And any player dare ask about a decision or these boys will scream in your face. Take in a friendly in Derry, Armagh or Tyrone and the referees talk players through the games - not here bar two or three and their faces don't fit for any of the big games.

Look everyone has their own subjective viewpoints towards their own team.  Creggan complaining about bodychecks, not throwing ball back and late frees. Cargin complaining at 2 or 3 simple penalty calls, continual holding off the ball and obvious black card offences.  The free at the end for Creggan balanced by Cargin not be allowed to take a 2 pointer for the win. Gripes from both sides are natural after most championship games.

It was just so hard to tell what was going to be given as a foul or not. a 3 man rugby tackle was permitted (not correct), a soft hand on the shoulder was not (correct by the book).  The mauls were bizarre and I was standing near a couple of Derry lads who were laughing at the state of it.

Some consistency across the board would be a good start.  if it is a hurling referee trying to do both codes then greater training is needed.  We all appreciate these guys refereeing our matches, without them we'd have no games.  They need training and assistance just as we would our offer our players

The "tops refs" probably don't have time for training as they are out maybe six days a week between underage/ladies/camogie etc.

Not sure of the reason but i noticed one of our top refs not out at all this weekend. Hopefully another reason apart from not being selected

Do Antrim ever get refs from other counties in to referee? Armagh have a few Tyrone and Down men refereeing.

They don't have time for training? What do they be at pre season? The better refs over the recent past were from the SW whom seem to have hung them up for whatever reason. I'd put Colm McDonald in that bracket also, rarely any chaos surrounding him.

Kevin Parke out this weekend again at Dunloy/Lougheil
With the history between those 2, and his policy of letting things go, it could be tasty.

Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Jerome won't be happy

At least we'll get a bit of decent commentary on the game even if it is As Gaelige
