We're 145 metres long and 88 metres wide.

illdecide

I used to design pitches and all that come with them like lights, dugouts and fencing etc. Haven't done it in a while and I know the technology has moved on from the 2KW halogen bulbs. Athletic Grounds in Armagh have changed over to LED or similar so running costs and maintenance would drop considerably now i'd imagine.
It really depends on your budget and the level of lighting you want, if you are a big ground and there could ever be a chance of a televised game then you'd want 1000 lux levels but thats more for County grounds, club grounds for matches will want to be aiming for 500-600 Lux levels and if it's for a training pitch with no matches 200 Lux levels will be grand...It's all down to budget and the level of lighting required and as for columns this will be part of your design and what space you have, if you look at most new football (soccer) grounds now they have their lights on the roof of their stands but they're high enough to achieve the lighting required rather than put big massive pylons or columns restricting views. 18m columns are quite popular but my club has 25m high columns with 1 at each corner of the ground...hope that helps
I can swim a little but i can't fly an inch

Pretty close to the max then want to ensure to have proper coverage but if it comes to the worst and the lights aren't angled right or the poles arent tall enough they can be adjusted I know my local club added extensions onto their poles when they were upgrading their floodlights.
I know some clubs used electric skyline and seamus byrne electrical but there are many companies that do them and you will want to tender them against each other to see who offers the best service and can provide it for the best price.
Musco got the contract for croke park and a few county grounds aswell as some soccer pitches so they must be good quality. Also Shay Byrne Electrical did them in Laois centre of excellence when they upgraded them to be more energy efficient.
Anyways best of luck with your development.
