Who is decent out there at the minute? I see that Paul Smith fella is selling out arenas all over the place on the basis of short clips online of him roasting audience members. Not sure what the rest of his content is like but he'd be going some to fill a show if that's all he has.

Total let down....went to show in Belfast, ribbed a few in the audience but I got  bored with a long yarn about a stag & drugs.
Left early to avoid the car park traffic tbh,!

Exactly this - the funniest part of his routine is audience engagement.

After this the stories are long and get tedious quite quickly.

I've 2 booked for next year. Dara O'Briain, who I have already seen before and enjoyed.  Worth another trip hopefully.  Tommy Tiernan booked too. Ive never been to one of his shows.

I suspected what you have both said as the only clips I ever saw were one dimensional audience pieces. He's laughing all the way to the bank though.

This is out of date, but I saw Billy Connolly in Belfast years ago and I've never laughed as much in my life. I could hardly breathe.

Nobody comes close to Billy. I've seen him twice , second time  he was older and  not as energetic  as when he was in his absolute peak  of 80s/90s , but he was still  great.

I've recently come   across some interviews of his from years ago  on   Parkinson and some US shows , and they were just  hilarious.  I loved the one with Parkinson, and he comes on and  he just takes off. After about ten minutes , parky shakes his   head and laughs, saying  "I haven't even  asked any questions yet".  Just a funny, funny man.

I went to Tommy Tiernan in the Ulster Hall twice and he was brilliant. Some wild topics though.
Jake O'Kane was very good too.

Billy Connolly still the funniest I have ever seen too, Have seen David O'Doherty and Foil Arms and Hogg a few times each and whilst maybe not everyone's cup of tea  I really enjoyed them
