of course thatcher's government were negotiating with the Hunger Strikers.
This only proves to the doubters and naysayers that this is true.

her offers were turned down by the Hunger Strikers themsleves during the course of the Hunger Strike until the british gov finally agreed to give the full 5 demands at a later stage as long as they would call off the Hunger Strike first and not to triumphalise this result. this was after ten brave men had died.

The full 5 demands were met some months after the Hunger Strike ended with some demands starting with immediate effect.

plenty other snippets came out of those negotiations also - as in how the british gov wanted to jettison the money haemmoraging north ! The likes of sf are working on this as the only (as yet) all Ireland party. The brits will be delighted to offload the north back to us - but the economy will have to vastly improve first - as well as the sweetner of money from them to do so must be worth our while!

I wouldn't say thought, more that I hoped.

I hate this sense of revelry in Thatcher's death. How does the death of an 86-year old women make you happy? She is probably willing the grim reaper herself. What she did in the past cannot be rectified. How does her death as an aged woman, living longer than most, make you happy? I know that when she dies the amount of gloating over it (which makes no sense at all, as it suggests her death will make you feel better yet she has managed to live to the ripest age) will be unbearable. I understand her death not being mourned but to celebrate it makes no sense.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

I can't really understand it either, perhaps if she died in the mid 80's at the height of her powers you could kind of understand the gloating, but she is 86 ffs. What difference does it make to anyone now living here whether she is alive or dead ?

I don't hold this opinion of any other aged woman as you say and maybe it is wring of me. But as far as in concerned she will always be a murderous war mongering bitch and a harbourer of war criminals and despots. She derserves to die roaring and I think what i will enjoy most is the fact that most brits won't even give a damn and won't glorify her legacy.

That is like telling the NAZI hunters to give up as time heals all wounds.

It mightn't heal all wounds but it will sort them out either way as they would be some age now if they were adults in 1939-1945.

You comparing Thatcher, as loathsome as she was, to the Nazis that gassed millions of people ? Are you also telling us that Thatcher is wanted by the Hague or some international court? Otherwise your comparison is strange.

what I am saying is that some people detest Thatcher as much as the Jewish people detest the nazi's.

Your post suggested that her actions have been mitigated by time.

If time forgives past actions then by your standards the nazi's deserved the same.

Are you seriously proposing that time for gives the holocaust

No one is forgiving her sins. She was a hateful individual. But Godwin's aside, she was hardly as bad as the Nazis.

you are right there

As far as the Nationalist/republican population of northern ireland was concerned, from their perspective, she was worse
