Shocking video of a ref being attacked down in Tipp at the weekend

Hopefully the culprit is punished both by the GAA but also by the justice system

The gardai are involved and will be speaking to the boyo who did it.

The age old excuse has already been put forward as in " the person who did this is not a fully paid up member of the club". How many times have you heard that one ??

Why are there so MANY people inside the wire ?

It looks chaotic.

i could make very little out on that but if as reported is true the culprit should be legally prosecuted and banned from games for life
What happens next????

Never mind this bolloxology of banning him for life. How can that be enforced? I know it would be good from a public perception perspective, but this lad needs more than that.

Send this to the Gardai, let them arrest him for assault or attempted GBH and send the hoor down. That's an absolute disgrace.

Apparently this is the plan of action against this individual.

Match officials and officials from the South Tipperary Board, who hope to wrap up their investigation into the incident by tomorrow, are satisfied that the attack was alcohol-fuelled, a disturbing development for the GAA.

Newstalk we're advertising it on their radio staion this morning, they were mighty proud of the hits it was getting. Maybe it can still be viewed there, I won't be checking their web site though.

Deleted off their site as well.

JBM on the 21

I can see now why the GAA are trying to ban pitch invasions - I also thought it was to protect the Croke Park pitch, but making it an offense to enter the playing area would protect the refs and other officals from horrofic attacks like this

And does that in some way justify or explain it? Fuckin sure, the hoor needs to go through the courts whether he'd a bit of dutch in him or not.
