I got off to a very good start  :)

Ordinary Man - Christy Moore around 1986 on cassette tape - found some of the tracks dreary and others are brilliant.

2nd album I bought was Defender - Rory Gallagher - Some tracks class but one or two 'too 70ish sounding'.

Dire Straits - Brothers in arms (on the recommendation of my older brother)

First Single - band called Opus and the little piece of vinyl had their top ten hit - Live is life. Opus promptly disappeared but a quick search informs me their still on the go
