Thought St Endas were very poor today & St John's will prove a bridge too far for Glenariffe.

It's been a while  since a team has come up from intermediate and progressed to a QF.

Not much to pick between Dunloy and Cushendall yesterday, probably little bit of shadow boxing knowing they will likely meet again down the line.

Interesting to see the reaction to Saturday's antics in LG this week. Would like to think there would be quick response, but knowing Antrim  ::)

Belfast Live reporting Antrim are awaiting the referee report which seems a bit mad Ted.

I'm sure our resident ref will get his paperwork tidied up sharpish  ;)

Im not sure a referee can report on scuffles in the carpark not involving players. Didnt look to be a lot in it on the field?

Quote from: paddyjohn on September 13, 2026, 12:54:10 PMBig couple of weeks ahead for the county board. Sanctions needed for both clubs and hopefully a permanent ban for a certain county "footballer" after his actions were read out in court last week.

Dealt with by the courts now you want Antrim/GAA to open a can of worms and permanently suspend a player? Catch yourself on. Where do you draw the line on suspensions in that case?

Read the article. If you're happy enough to take your kids to watch somebody like that well thats up to you.

I wondered why a certain gentleman was very quiet ( not like him), he's too busy making sure the quill has plenty of ink on this one.

He'll be sitting down with Totes, reviewing the disciplinary handbook (10th edition), the Official Guide Part 1 and whatever bylaws are in Antrim ensuring whatever they come up with stick if it comes to appeals etc.

On a serious note, not entirely sure how it kicked off on the field, a water carrier is getting a lot of blame, but it really grates on me the number of hangers on allowed inside the fence that when the players do go at it seem to think they need to get involved and in my experience it only ever makes things worse.

"Breaking it up" seems to involve putting hands on an opposition player, fúck off with that one, it pure BS, pull out your own player if you want to break it up.

This needs to be sorted, far too many inside the wire at these games and only leads to trouble in these types of instances. Also having both benches side by side is something I never thought to be advisable.

That's not my point. My point is that plenty of bad things go on around the country, where are you happy to draw the line under suspensions?

Agree with this. Have seen water carriers get involved before, standing 10 yards on the field and talking nonsense. Far too many inside, water carriers, hurl carriers, dunloy had 2 x physios on the field yesterday at the same times plus a massive squad of players

Silver Eel

BBC in such a rush to make the negative story the headline, they had the game down as a final  ::)

"The Antrim SHC final is the best place to start, as the rematch between last year's finalists St John's and Loughgiel Shamrocks was marred by clashes both on and off the pitch.

The match at Fr Healy Park, ended in a 0-30 to 3-14 win for the Shamrocks, however, the scenes after were the main takeaway from an entertaining affair."

Problem is normal club grounds aren't suitable if things like this kick off.

In a county ground like Corrigan and Athletic Grounds etc., subs and hanger ons are up in the stand. And the gate is closed.

In normal club grounds this is impossible to police. I see some counties make the management teams wear bibs but in other counties, they don't have to wear bibs and you don't know who is who.

I think inter-county teams want the water carriers back as then they can carry messages on etc.

Yeah but I think there is less chance of trouble even at regular club grounds if you limit the number of people inside the playing area, to begin with anyway.

NorthAntrimSaff

To be honest things are probably 10x worse if the subs etc are over the fence on saturday. There will always be heated moments inside the white lines, its the fools outside the wire is the problem
