It's a far cry from my aul juvenile days for the county lol!

Lucky the bus never broke down, food? A mars bar your mum bought if you were lucky, your own sticks, shorts and socks went back in the training bag and ya never got a top at the end of the year  ;D

None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Hurlers didn't train tonight according to Niall McCoy.

I'm no cheerleader for Davey and I think he should have gone last year or after the Down defeat but honestly, are the players not at risk of making themselves and everyone around them look like fools with some of this stuff...   these things playing out in the way they are currently reflects well on no one.

At risk? I think we are way beyond that at this stage.

Not sure who to feel more embarrassed for, they players for that statement, Davy for the situation or the Co Board for making a sh*t show even worse than it already was  :-\

The players turned up, put on an Antrim jersey and played shit.

And they're raging about that? So, they're not training. Along with it, someone didn't get their socks.....

I was actually opposed to Davy's appointment. I thought it was a waste of money. Money that needs to be invested at the bottom. His tenure in Antrim has been awful but he is not to blame for the ills of Antrim hurling. Our underage teams have been 3rd rate for quite a while. We get to senior and we're 3rd rate still but we wonder why.

The assumption has to be that the events around Davy happened sometime after Saturday?

And that the players had a statement with the press early enough on Tuesday?

Anyone else thinking it's pretty quick to have a statement drafted and be running squealing to the press?

And that before you consider these are the same players that have been putting on the jersey and playing $h!t as a previous poster has already pointed out.

Of course there is the thing where a lot of commitment is required to play county and the players have given that.

But I think they have let themselves down a bagful in other ways.

I got the players letter via a whatsapp group and tbh, it didn't make a whole pile of sense.

They never backed Davy or said they wanted him gone, they were just getting mixed messages about what was happening with him, etc. So nothing committed there.

The bit about the gear doesn't help their cause as it's taking away from whatever point they were trying to make.

CB should have turned up at the training and sorted it out, not turning up speaks of lack of leadership there too.

So no one has moved against Davy but yet he obviously thinks they have, everyone denying everything up to this point.

Sounds like a bit of a smoke screen or a bit of deflection or even an exit strategy to me.

Just when you think this season couldn't get any worse.....

Agree with all this.  I saw the letter also and I'm still not sure whether the players actually want Davey in or not?  Are they pissed off that he was removed or pissed off that he was reinstated?

Last Man

The standard has been set in terms of what the players are supposed to get and they should get every bit of it. In return Management can set the standards players are expected to achieve, everyone has to keep their side of the bargain.
That deal does not look to be in place.
As far as the letter is concerned it does appear to have been generated from a few more vocal members of the squad. They might have been better to take some advice to put their case forward. From a PR perspective it is not a great look.
Should never have got to this point in any case. The CB has to shoulder a fair portion of the blame.

NorthAntrimSaff

The gear issue should've been sorted pre championship.

This Davy situation should've been sorted in house

After 2 very disappointing Joe McDonagh results this is a very poor look

Whatever about the gear, which they should clearly get, 3 weeks ago they were off on a training trip to
Portugal .  I don't think it's a case of them not being looked after.

The phrase 'pick your moment' springs to mind.

All 3 parties, DF, players and CB are making themselves look like fools

groundlie

Needs resolved as soon as possible. Very difficult trip to London awaits and the longer this drags on the better it suits our opponents in forthcoming games.

Meet all parties, come to an agreement, move on!

Is it just the hurlers that head off to the sun or do the other codes do likewise?
