I don't want to be awkward here lads but what your talking about is not the scoring average.

You have calculated is the ratio of 'scores for' against 'scores against' which produces a somewhat interesting table, but is not the scoring average.

Yeap. One is the scoring average per game, the other is the scoring difference.

The term "scoring average" may not be the best, but it is the term that is used by the GAA and has been used in the NFL to determine relegation positions when points are level.

Yeah it's basically the scoring co-efficeint. At least I think that is the word for it.

Here's the scoring averages. I've included total points (scored and conceded) to show which teams have been involved in the highest scoring games.

Played     For      Average       Against    Average       Total      Average
Down         6            10-83   18.8             8-79      17.16            18-162   36
Wexford     4            4-54     16.5             5-60      18.75             9-114    35.25
Dublin        3             4-58     23.3            1-29      10.6               5-87      34
Galway       3             6-42     20               2-33      13                 8-75      33
Tyrone       5            3-74     16.6             6-53      14.2              9-127    30.8
Cork           2            3-25     17               1-23      13                 4-48      30
Mayo          3            5-34     16.3             2-32      12.6              7-66      29
Monaghan   4            1-52     13.75           4-48      15                 5-100    28.75
Kerry          3            3-38     15.6             1-34      12.3              4-74      28
Armagh      4            4-48     15                1-43      11.5              5-91      26.5
Kildare        4            2-47     13.25            1-44      11.75            3-91      25
Fermanagh  5            4-43     11                4-49      12.2              8-92      23.2

Evidently we shouldn't have expected a high scoring game when Kildare met Fermanagh
