Laois v Derry (Sat)

Derry manager Paddy Crozier has made three changes to the side that defeated Mayo for Saturday night's National League Division One clash with Laois.
As part of a rotation policy, Barry Gillis returns in goal in place of John Deighan while Niall McCusker makes his comeback from injury at full-back.

Kevin McGuckin reverts to right back and Michael McIvor starts at left half-back with Joe Keenan on the bench.

Ryan Dillon, injured early on against Mayo, is not available for duty.

Liam Hinphey and Mark Craig are set to play in the National Football League on Saturday and then turn out for the Oak Leafers in the National Hurling League the following day.

Historically Derry have not faired well playing Laois in portlaoise. McEneaney is a good ref and I cant recall him being that bad to Derry in the past.

Just to tidy up that earlier post, do you (Lynchbhoy) not remember 1997.  Ref gave a double bounce(resulting in a pont by Cunningham) and two wide balls to Cavan's cause to won an Ulster title.  Cavan sponsored by Kingspan who, it was allegded empoyed Pat McEneaney.

rem it well Real Talk
apart from the point that wet wide , and the double bounce, McEnaney (like most other refs would possibly subconsciously favour the underdogs).
I certainly do not think he meant it, but I have to admit he seems to favour northern teams over non-ulster sides (or aggressive teams over non -aggressive teams) - so dont bear a grudge against him for that game.
In truth, we fcuked it away ourselves and should have easily won the match - Derry allowed cavan to stay in contention and in the position for them to win it (albeit with a touch of help from the ref).
spent two days in cavan after this helping the poor lads celebrate (as I know they didnt have a clue how to celebrate an ulster final win)

QuoteI only repeated the info i got off aaroadwatch.ie

Don't mind AA, they are a brit crowd and know nothing about us Mexicans, not least of which is that it is only 155 miles from Dungannon to Portlaoise most of which is along spanking new motorway.

Where is Stapleton from?

Yeah I think Doire Abu your bein a bit optimistic with the 3 hour thing, but it's definitely not 4 an a half. Bout 3 and a half i would say from most of south derry anyway.

I'm form Ballinderry (i.e. most southern part of Derry). Took me less than three and a half hours (within speed limit by the way).

Thanks for tellin me where Ballinderry is :D

Doire abú

Aye, you're welcome  ;D, as are the lads in Laois who maybe weren't too familiar with Derry parish geography.
