Big Sam Allardyce the new manager.

Ah FFS!! I'm not Sam Allardyce's biggest fan but I suppose he should be given the benefit of the doubt.

He should be given the benefit of a good slap to the chops.

Kevin Nolan sent off today for a two-footed tackle. Only problem I have is that both players make a two footed tackle, Smiths being much more of a lunge but only one is sent off? Where's the consistency? I'm not a Hammer's fan but this soccer is turning into a game for geriatrics. I saw more physicality at the All-Priests Five-a-Side Over-75's Indoor Football Challenge Match.

I thought sport was supposed to be about skill, not physicality (unless we count the Iron-Man competitions as sport).  Anyone making a two-footed tackle has no interest in playing the game in a sporting manner.  I would disagree that the Ulster counties' approach to Gaelic Football should be implemented throughout the world of sport - it's not all about winning (whilst hospitalising your opponent).

Right then, what about the tackle today in the Newcastle match? A player lunges in with two foot, possibly breaking a man's leg, and yet there isn't even so much as a yellow. One rule here another elsewhere. If sport was always about skill then the only game that would exist would be darts or pool whilst rugby would be outlawed the world over.

Very sad. RIP.

West Ham have announced the death of striker Dylan Tombides at the age of 20, following a battle with illness after being diagnosed with testicular cancer in the summer of 2011.

The Hammers confirmed that Tombides passed away on Friday morning, with a minutes applause scheduled to pay tribute to the youngster before their Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

A statement released by the club on Friday afternoon read: "West Ham United announce the sad news that forward Dylan Tombides has passed away at the age of 20 following his brave battle with cancer.

"Dylan passed away on Friday morning with his family by his side having courageously fought the disease for three years after initially being diagnosed with testicular cancer in summer 2011.

"He remained a regular visitor to Chadwell Heath throughout his treatment and his positive attitude and professional approach to his football and training always impressed and boosted his team-mates and coaches alike."

Anyone see this match? The Hammers won the penalty shootout 9-8, but here is Noble and Tomkins have a right good go at each other.

Happened in Extra time after Everton nearly went 3-2 up when Lukaku went close. Not sure which player started it. Could have been Reid at Noble for not covering back or it may have been Noble at Reid for watching Lukaku waltz through at his ease. Nothing much in it.
